Hilary Stout´s Antisocial Networking?

As the Hilary Stout wrote, in the article “Antisocial Networking?” I spend a lot of time on social networks, also. I am a young student with laptop, cellphone, Internet, Facebook beside me like others in college. Sometimes, I also think that whether social networks is good for us. I have no idea because I am forced to use it to connect with my friends every single day. Now I have a chance to read this article and think about it carefully. Social networks impacts me so much. If the world hadn’t created social networks, I would not have kept in touch with all of my friends in Viet Nam. It is not only bring me the convenience, the cheapest price in communication, but also an opportunity to change my life. First, It is no doubt that social networks
with a texting conversation is totally cheaper and more convenient than make a call to somebody who is living in other country. As Elizabeth Hartley-Brewer wrote in her book, she believes that “the electronic media is helping kids to be in touch much more and for longer”. I have the same viewpoints with her. I am able to text to my wife and my family every single day easily, instead of making an international call. Of course, price for these calls are really expensive in many times. I am able to keep in touch so much more and longer with my family because of creating social networks of the inventors. Besides, I also post my images or interesting experiences in the US on social networks such as, Facebook, Instagram for my family and my friends. Telephone is never able to do that. My wife said that she felt we more and more closer when we exchanged memories each other on Facebook. That is a significant point that social networks created to connect people together. Another reason why a texting conversation impacts me profoundly is that it changes my life undoubtedly. I was very bad at speaking English in the first time I came the U.S. However, I can read the newspaper or write a letter to my friends. As the story of Mr. Wilson, he believes that “ Facebook has for the most part been beneficial to my sons, for Evan, the No. 1 reason is it’s helping him come out of his shell and develop social skills that he wasn’t learning because he’s so shy.” I use a texting as a tool to help me connect to American friends who are able to understand my English by texting easier than speaking. I text to them quite frequently to request an appointment and then we talk together in English. It actually brought to me a change to improve my English. I also received the part time job in the office as well as useful advice by meeting up with American friends. Now I am in community college and I want to say “ Thank You” to texting conversations for helping me in first days. To conclude, some researchers have another viewpoint with social networks. However, I am a vivid witness in obvious viewpoint that a texting conversation is able to bring us evident benefits such as, keeping in touch with our relationships deeper and longer, making a new relationships easier than ever.
