Hillary Clinton’s Three Levels of Personality
There are three levels of personality that describes each individual’s differences, according to McAdams. The first level consists of decontextualized, general, and relatively non-conditional constructs known as traits (McAdams, 1995, p. 365). The second level is called personal concerns (McAdams, 1995, p. 365). 365). Hillary Clinton is extremely ambitious and one of the most well-known, respected women of the 21-century. Her standing in the political spectrum began in 1993 when she became the First Lady of the United States. Clinton was determined to be known for more than just being the First Lady, so she decided to run for Democratic nomination in 2008 in hopes of becoming America’s first woman President. Her personality is what gave her strive and inspiration to try and accomplish the most difficult task of being the first woman president. She wanted to gain significant influence and power and was motivated enough to try a task no woman in the United States has ever tried before. Clinton is also a huge role model for women and an advocate of feminism. She has achieved accomplishments that other women only dream of accomplishing. No other woman has had the courage to run for president and now she is going to push even more boundaries and re- run for president in the 2016 election. She is a role model for women because she shows us that anyone, men or women, can live their American Dream. 365). A person within a modern society is required because we put the individuation of the self at such a superior. In Western societies, we normally describe our personality as having unity and purpose in life. If we have no unity or purpose then what are we living for? Unity and purpose are the trademarks of our identity. McAdams states, “Identity in adulthood is an inner story of the self that integrates the reconstructed past, perceived present, and anticipated future to provide a life with unity, purpose, and meaning” (McAdams, 1995, p. 365). Going along with our life having unity and purpose, Clinton feels it is her purpose for the women’s voices, in our country, to be heard. She believes there cannot be a true democracy unless women’s voices are heard. She wants women to be given the same opportunities as men and to live for their American Dream. Clinton wants to achieve a democracy where all citizens are able to participate fully in the lives of our country. She did run for Democratic nomination in 2008 and lost against President Obama. That is not enough to discourage this strong, will powered woman who is going to try again and re- run for president in the 2016 election. She did not let one set back knock her down. She used that energy to build herself and campaign back up, in hopes of winning the next presidency
