In the story, “Hills like White Elephants” written by Ernest Hemingway. A couple is waiting at the train station, located near the dusty hills of Northern Spain. In the story the couple really didn’t see eye to eye, causing the setting to force them to face one another. The story, revealed how the couple sat in the train station while waiting on the train and drink beers. The couple started to partake in a conversation to discussing the issues at hand. The author’s way of showing the type of relationship that the couple had was by using fictional elements. The main element that was used throughout different parts of the story is symbols.
