Hip Hop Vs Rap Genres Essay

I believe that two genres that will exist and thrive for the next 50-100 years are rock and country. Both genres have been around for over half a century, and I don’t see the popularity diminishing anytime soon. Something that sets these genres apart is the diversity within the genre itself. You can easily track the transformations that both genres have undergone. From Dolly to Carrie or from The Beatles to Bruce, the consistent following from rock or country fans respectively suggests that they will grow in the future. Although the genres are not like by everyone, they have loyal fans that will listen for years.
On the contrary, I believe the genres of rap and hip-hop will not make great contributions to the music industry in 50-100 years. Rap and hip-hop have a strict following by the younger generation. However, as that group ages, I don’t see as much success with the genre. Many rap artists sing about drugs, sex, or utter nonsense that is used simply for the rhyme. Some songs are hard to understand because of the rapid chatter or excessive “beat-boxing” sounds. I feel that classical music will become strictly educational because it was the start of music, where other genres received its initial influence. I remember that I was first introduced to classical music first in a school setting, learning that it can higher one’s IQ. Leisurely, however, I don’t think people will choose to listen to classical music over other genres. Orchestras have already seen a decline in attendance or interest, and I don’t see them making complete revivals.
