Historical Events During Anne Frank
Untold numbers of Jews hid from the Nazis in the second world war. Anne Frank’s world-renowned diary tells the story of one family. In the play adaptation of the diary, eight people have been in hiding from the Nazis for an unexpectedly long time. They are becoming very agitated after being together for so long. The historical events referenced in Anne Frank affect the mood of the characters and how they act towards each other.
The historical events that take place during Anne Frank influence how the characters treat each other. One such example is the news of the Normandy landings. “Miep. The radio… The B.B.C.!     When people are put in difficult positions, it's often that their maturity alters. In the play The Diary of Anne Frank by Albert Hackett and Frances Goodrich, taken place 1942 in Amsterdam, is about a Jewish family who go hiding in a secret annex in order to avoid being captured by the Nazis. This play is based on the diary of the Anne Frank, the main protagonist, who recounts her experiences from when she entered the annex at age thirteen until when her freedom out from it at fifteen. Over the course of the play she develops as a person as she grows through her experiences. By the end of the play, the diary is a compilation of fascinating stories from the people hiding in the annex, and an account of Anne’s changes in her interactions with others. Anne first displays her immaturity by getting into arguments with the residents of the annex. Then over the course of two years she matures drastically.…
