Historical History Research Paper

The development of historical archaeology in the United States, stated with a historic preservation movement in the mid-nineteenth century after the civil war. The historic preservation movement, was the result of the American elite wanting to preserve their history in the United States. Many of the American elite believed that their history is being threatened by the social changes caused by immigration and the new industrial capitalists wanting to destroy historical monuments for their own economic ambitions. One example of the early stages of historical archaeology is in the Colonial Williamsburg Project.
