History
In 1899, right after the First Opium War, China was under the control of European powers and Japan, Qing Dynasty was so weak that hardly could defeat these powers. Each of these powers found out that China was a country which owned variety of resource. Therefore, all of them wanted to trade with China to earn more benefit and robbed various parts of coastal places, unfold Chinese territorial and Administrative integrity and would not interfere with the free use of the treaty ports within their spheres of inference in China. John Hay, the private secretary to Abraham Lincoln, the person who proposed the Open Door Policy. At that time, the United States was just finished the invasion of Philippine with Spanish and turned to China. They also had great interest in China and found out that China was the biggest market in the whole world. The Open Door Policy was declared base on this situation.
Hay said,“Earnestly desirous to remove any cause of irritation and to ensure at the same time to the commerce of all nations in China...shall enjoy perfect equality of treatment for their commerce and navigation within such spheres.” The purpose of writing the document was to reduce the power countries had gained from their spheres of influence. 3. No great power having a sphere should be granted exemptions from paying harbor dues or railroad charges.
This policy which showed above has obviously

Around 1895, after Japan won the Sino-Japanese War, Japan, France, Germany, Russia, and Britain divided in China’s coast into spate parts. In 1899, to ensure the establishment of American interest in Asia, U.S. Secretary of State John Hay sent a letter to these countries that essentially demanded equal economic access to China’s markets for all nations. This right to equal access was called the open door policy, which happened under President Roosevelt’s presidency. To further secure American interest in Asia, the United States sent 5,000 soldiers to help fight a growing rebellion in Beijing, China. It was clear that something had to be done in order to prevent other countries from seizing our ships as if they were “lawful prizes” (Doc B); however, the Embargo Act was not the best solution. The Act declared that we were not to trade with any foreign nation and that no vessels would be allowed to deport “from one port of the United States to any other…” (Doc C). If you view this commercially, it “annihilated” American trade because it cut off a major source of revenue. Agriculturally, it “paralyzed” the industry. It would result in Americans seeking job opportunities elsewhere (Doc D). Even as a peace measure, some say, it failed. The goals that the Embargo Act were meant to accomplish, were not fulfilled. By closing our ports we allowed British ships to have completely exclusive use of the ocean and gave the West India planters the monopoly of sugar, rum, and coffee. The one country this Act was meant to protect, the United States, it hurt the most, financially at least.…

<br>A good example of America's pursuit for their own advantage in foreign affairs was the Open Door policy. China was expected to become a sphere of influence for European nations. The United States had a small percent of trade with China and was hungry for more. They issued the Open Door policy with the goal of preserving equal trading opportunities in China for all foreign nations. The United States was obviously only concerned for their own self-interest rather than the interest other countries trading with China.…

In many areas in the world, countries established agreements that permit free trade, free movement of capital, and labor between member states and nations seeking a mutual benefit. In the case of GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council), the purpose of establishing this regional integration was to improve commercial operations of those states, as well as finance operations, improve security, access larger markets, and compete on a global standard, in a world driven by globalization (Beidas-Strom S et al.
