Between 1607 and 1763, Americans gained control of their political and economic institutions. To what extent and in what ways do you agree or disagree with this statement?
As a growing nation, over the years things have changed for the better and worse. New ideas, laws, inventions, technology have all been developed. These new ideas are what led the political and economic systems to change. By being able to have records of history, it allows future generations to see the change that occurred over the years. Between 1607 and 1763, the Americans gained control of their political and economic institutions.
As new societal and cultural ideas were introduced, the Americans began to come up with their own. As their ideas began to spread throughout America, England began to lose control of the Americans. This loss in control from England was a gain to the Americans. They finally had a chance at being independent. They were given an opportunity to be on their own, to create their own American legal system. Though the
American legal system was very similar to the British legal system, it was still the start of their independence. They created different court procedures and punishments. They had the right to come up with their own laws now that England was losing control over the Americans.
As England lost control over the Americans, the northern and southern colonies stopped relying on traders from London. They came up with new independent ways to trade, they began trading directly with each other. They traded tobacco, rise, and indigo.
All of the important products they needed that they were relying on England for, they found out they could trade within their colonies. Trading within their colonies, led to a boost in their own economy. They increased learning of various crafts. People became carpenters, silversmiths, printers, artisans, ect.
