Intercultural relation is concerns and issues about to understand, communicate, and accomplish goals with foreigner in foreign culture. One of the major issues in intercultural relation is culture. The foundation of culture was shaped by human history. Therefore, different culture of communication between county to country may understand with different meanings. This essay will discuss that history is or not important in intercultural relation by considering several aspects: firstly, discuss German nationalism affected the relation between the European in early 20th century, secondly, the post first world war issues in the Paris Peace Conference, Lastly, the comment from the India crime chief.
Firstly, the German’s history shown German became nationalism in late 19th to early 20th century and united by Otto von Bismarck1. In early 20th century, nationalism of the German had become extreme, people believed that their county was always right and aimed to strengthen their country by weakening others. After the Pan-Germanism and later became a movement to establish world domination. And this historic movement led to German extreme nationalists believed that German race was superior to other races and therefore, should dominate not only Europe but also the whole world. The history had shown German nationalism culture was built in late 19th century and the ambition shown German wanted to rule the world. As a result, Germany raised suspicion and tension relation with the European.
Secondly, the Franco-German relation was hostile after the Franco-Prussian war and the treaty of Frankfurt. France became revengeful. This revengeful was led to form extreme nationalism and revenge movement against Germany. Furthermore, Georges Clemenceau2 demanded harsh punishment in post-world war and the strong revengeful was directly placed in the Paris Peace Conference with the treaty of Versailles.
