Narrative Ballets are ballets that tell a story. They are also known as Story Ballets. These ballets are shown in three acts, to show the plot. Sleeping Beauty, a famous ballet, is a Story Ballet from the 1800s, from when the first story ballets were made.
Abstract Ballets are plotless ballets that are made to show off the ballet dancer’s technique and strong shapes. There are even types of Abstract Ballets. Neoclassical Ballets and Contemporary Ballets are both types of Abstract ballet. Abstract ballets have contemporary dance in them, as well as some steps from ballet. Jewels, a Neoclassical Ballet, is also Theme ballet. Neoclassical Ballets are very modern, like Cinderella, The Dream (A Midsummer Night’s Dream,) Romeo and Juliet, and Onegin.
