Spartan soldiers were known as the most prized,
proficient, and precious warriors of all ancient Greece. The soldiers used venomous weapons like swords and spears. Their armor was dark red so they would not be targeted if they were wounded. In battle, the soldiers would knit the iron shields together and descend upon the opposing army. The strategy allowed the soldiers to win the battle against the other army. For instance, in the Spartan's most glamorous fight, three hundred Spartan warriors fended off thousands of soldiers from Persia.
The Spartan people kept slaves, named helots. They were allowed to cultivate and farm land of their own, but because they were slaves, they had to offer their masters half of the crops. The helots were beaten once every year, so that they would fear their masters. Runaway slaves were found and killed. Spartans were inferior people. Sparta was a military defended city. 0
