If you were to live within a mile of a nuclear power plant, you would absorb less radiation than if you were to live the same distance from a coal power plant. The world has recently opened the door leading to green energy(Metaphor), and 63% of the America’s emission-free energy comes from nuclear power(“Why Nuclear Energy” 2). This energy may be the way we power the entire earth in the future, and in turn is advancing many fields of research. All of this scientific advancement has origins in the atom bomb. The atom bomb was created to stop finish the war that the German Nation started, under Adolf Hitler’s leadership and guidance. Hitler manipulated a country into an awful war that lead to discoveries that …show more content…
The "two dates most often mentioned as "the beginning of World War II" are July 7, 1937, when the "Marco Polo Bridge Incident" led to a prolonged war between Japan and China", other than September 1st, 1939(“World War 2” 24). During the Marco Polo Bridge incident, Japan surrounded a small town near the Marco Polo Bridge, while being as subtle as an elephant playing the trumpet on ice, that was legal due to a law that was exploited before China knew what was happening (Simile). The Chinese didn’t have enough troops in the town to defend it properly, and Japan wanted to invade it for a missing soldier. This lead to a brief battle that ended in a cease fire. This incident put some wary European countries on edge, but it was seven years later that World War 2 was started(personification). While this battle may have been the cause for the Second Sino-Japanese war, which was the war between Japan and China during World War 2, this did not ignite fighting between more than the two countries, leaving World War 2 unstarted. The “Others point to 1931, when Japan seized Manchuria from China." and claim that was the start of World War 2(“World War 2” 26) .The invasion of Manchuria happened during the first Sino-Japanese war that was …show more content…
The invention of penicillin was a long process and "it was not until 1939 when Dr. Howard Florey's research was able to prove the effectiveness of penicillin without a shadow of a doubt and with the aid of Andrew J. Moyer he developed the most powerful antibacterial substance in the world." (“Top 10 Inventions Discovered during WW2” 19). Soldiers died often in World War 2, Parents lost their children, siblings lost their brothers and sisters, but penicillin helped prevent that (Pathos).Penicillin is used worldwide to treat diseases that, without penicillin, would be fatal or debilitating, making healthcare better for everyone. Penicillin was invented over the course of many years leading up to the war. It originally started with a single species that could not be mass produced, but over the course of the war, they discovered a more productive species and genetically modified it to produce more. They also updated methods used to harvest and purify the penicillin. Penicillin is a lifesaving drug that may have been overlooked if not for the wars demand for something to combat infections and, without penicillin, the death count would have been much higher. When you think of nuclear power "the first thing that springs to mind is that it is a source of energy. However, nuclear power plants that we utilize to obtain electricity nowadays originated from the bombs
