Hiv Research Paper
Research paper Every day of our lives we have our minds filled by the media, but is it always truth that we are being filled with? We have diseases (HIV/AIDS), our planets fossil fuel consumption issue , and especially drugs, in this case we have marijuana and how it causes behind the wheel, work related deaths and mostly you hear about how it negatively affects your lungs. But have you ever disregarded the media and done some research of your own? Turns out this so called drug marijuana might not actually be as negative as people think but could very well have the potential to pull this country out of its recession. I was digging into a little research and discovered some statements/facts that just might make you think twice about not utilizing this plants potential. Example, this plant can be used for medicinal purposes. When this plant is smoked it affects your body in a way called “ the munchies,” were it enables the patient to eat larger amounts of food helping the patient gain weight which they were losing due to the diseases (HIV/AIDS) the patient might be fighting. Now most hospitals will not tell you this unless you are in one of those few states that actually wised up and legalized it. Another interesting fact is that when smoked provides same affects as certain prescription drugs but less possible harm to your body. Now this is when it really gets interesting. Did you know before hemp was made illegal, it had a vast array of benefits to those million dollar commercial industries. All school books were made from hemp or flax paper until 1880's( Hemp paper reconsidered , Jack Fraiser, 1974). It was legal to pay taxes with hemp in America from 1631 until early 1800's (LA times, Aug 12 1981). Refusing to grow hemp in America during the 17th & 18th century was against the law. You could be jailed! ( Hemp in Colonial Virginia , G. M. Herdon). 80% of all textiles, fabrics, cloths, linen, drapes, bed sheets, etc.....were made from hemp until 1820's

In Stephen C. Webster’s article titled “White House admits marijuana has ‘some’ medical value” the opening line is a contradiction in itself. The Webster (2011) website states, “Days after the DEA insisted that marijuana has no medical value, the White House says there may actually be ‘some’ medical value to ‘individual component of the cannabis plant’ after all.” The DEA is supposed to be up to date with drug effects; but the White House says different, basically calling out the credibility of the DEA. Webster also goes on to say that smoking marijuana is harmful and has no medical value, in which he pulled from a report from the White House.…

Society has often times refused prosperity when prosperity was knocking on the front door of broken down economies. There have been moments in this nation’s history when government’s interests conflicted with its constituencies’ interests. Such is the case for the United States Federal Government’s policy on cannabis, where some 70 odd years ago they decided that all hemp farming and anything involving cannabis at all is illegal, shutting down a source of farming that has countless beneficial uses. Billions of dollars over the years were never earned due to scare tactics from special interests in the 1930’s, a policy that needs urgent reversal (Krider 1). Hemp farming, with it’s cultivated uses from plastics, to medicine, to fuel, to paper and textile uses, should not only be legal in the United States, but encouraged.…

The argument of legalizing pot has been in question for years now. William Bennett, who served as the Secretary of Education under Ronald Reagan and a Drug Czar under H.W. Bush, wrote an article called “Legal Pot Is a Public Health Menace”, that is full of hard hitting facts. Though all his facts go against the legalization of pot, not all of them are trustworthy enough to decide whether or not to legalize pot. Most of Bennett’s facts are unrepresentative, unclear, or insufficient for the claim he wants to get across to his audience.…

The cannabis plant has been the topic of much debate throughout the history of this country. It was actually originally the work of the cotton industry who put big money behind illegalization for the plant 's mind altering effects. The cotton industry was afraid that hemp, a product of the cannabis plant, would soon overpower the strong hold of cotton since it was a more durable textile that required less work, less ground depletion, and could be grown almost anywhere. Since the time when cannabis first became illegal it has been grouped with other narcotics as a counterpart. The truth is cannabis has many benefits to society and other than the effects of…

There is a considerable amount of documentation on marijuana which includes five thousand years of individual experience. Marijuana is now used on a daily basis by an enormous amount of people throughout the entire world. Estimates suggest that twenty to fifty million citizens of the United States of America regularly, even though illegally, smoke marijuana without the need of medical direction. Yet, in spite of this extensive record of use and the astonishingly high numbers of smokers, there is no credible medical information to advocate that using marijuana has or will cause any deaths (Annual Causes of Death in the United States, 2008).…
