A ship was spotted at the bottom of the Arctic Bay and it was the HMS Terror, it has been 168 years since the last time it has been seen. Crew members found a note that was there in the ice showing that the men to follow the Back River to safety at a trading outpost. People captured images that give a look at sea life almost 170 years ago! The search to find the boat started in 2008. Text states from “Doomed ship found 168 years later” says, “About 24 meters down, the ship is in excellent condition.” This means that even tho the ship was 80 feet down in the sea for 168 years it still is in perfect conditions. Text from CBC New texted says,”It is perfectly preserved in the frigid waters of the Northwest Passage. With all three masts standing and almost all hatches closed”. (www.cbc.ca) This means that the ship has almost all its parts and and all its poles holding up are still well, holding it up! The HMS Terror ship is in wonderful condition and still stands like any regular boat would.
Researchers say that if you take out all the water the HMS Terror could float. “If you could lift this boat and pump the water out, it would probably float.” says Adrian Schimnowski, Arctic Research Foundation. This means that if the boats gets the water out of it the HMS Terror could float. Just the water was holding it down, I quess. This means that it sank cause the vessel was down tight and so it sank. No water made it sink till water got in it when it went underwater. We now know that HMS Terror can float, and that there was no damage that made it

Tom Ferebee, from the nose of the Enola Gay, a B-29, used Victor 4120, a Norden M-9B, to release the "Little Man" atomic bomb over Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945 (Twin Beech). The sight remains with the Enola Gay at the National Air and Space Museum 's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Washington DC. On August 9th, 1945, Kermit Beahan, the bombardier on the Bockscar, another B-29, used a Norden to release "Fatman" over Nagasaki from 31,000 feet. Due to heavy cloud cover, this mission was almost completed using an early radar sight. At the last second though, the clouds opened up just enough to drop the bomb using the Norden (Miller,…

All power all lights were lost forward. The fact that the [torpedo] hits were there, at least we think they were up forward, are borne out by the fact we have almost no Marines who were reported in that section of the ship. We have not a single steward's mate and their compartment was up there and we have very few officers that were in their rooms at the time of the explosion. So we believe all of those people were killed almost instantly.…

This submarine was built by a Yale graduate by the name of David Bushnell. He named it the Turtle because it looked like a sea turtle floating vertically in the water. This ship was made out of a wood hull that was eight foot long and was just big enough for one operator. It was entirely hand powered and featured lead ballast tanks for balance. This craft was manned by Ezra Lee, and on September 7 1776, Lee piloted the Turtle unnoticed out to the sixty-four gun HMS Eagle that was stationed in New York Harbor. As Lee got to the Eagle he tried to anchor a time bomb to the hull of the ship. Lee could even see the British seaman above him but they failed to notice the strange object in the water. Lee was just about to secure the bomb to the hull of the ship, till his boring tool failed to penetrate iron sheathing of the ship. So Lee retreated and the bomb exploded nearby, neither the Eagle or the Turtle were damaged. So the first attack with a submarine failed to destroy its target but was successful because the Eagle was moved out of the harbor. After the first attempted attack Lee was too frail and failed to man the Turtle any more, so they got another operator. The Turtle tried to sink multiple other British ships in the Hudson River, but do to the complicated instruments to man the craft and they new operator, they failed. The Turtle was lost when the…

The purpose of the trench warfare was so that defending units could be protected by small arms fire and provide sheltered against artillery. This shows they would protect as much land from the enemy. Trench warfare was very important in WW1 this is because when the Germans realized that they were going to lose due to Russia and France they dug in and tried not to let the enemy take any of their land back so that their country would grow bigger and stronger. I will be answering the question about, how effective was Trench warfare in World War 1, and how effective was it as a method used by both sides in war Triple Entente and Triple Alliance.…

In 1819, the French painter, Theodore Gerricault, created a sensation in Parisian art circles and high-society when he unveiled a huge and impressive canvas entitled "Scene of Shipwreck." Not only is the painting gigantic (16 ft high and almost 24 ft wide), but is also quietly horrifying. A group men on crowded fat are making an attempt to get a faraway ship to notice them. Survival looks almost impossible, and but the desperate situation does not even begin to suggest the abject horror which overtook the people of the raft. The real story which inspired the painting had taken place in 1816 . . .…

The group was originally founded as a student discussion group in 1952 at the University of Deusto, in Bilbao. The group was founded as a Marxist-Leninist group, but is not so strictly ideological in this vein.…

December 30th: First day at sea and already the sea sickness is starting to get to me, but it’s not that bad, because this is for science. We are off the coast of Vigo and it’s raining real badly today. The boat is rocking back and forth but we still tried to do some research. A dredge took samples along the surface of the seafloor while being dragged across the bottom. We got some samples of mud, and collected small organisms off the bottom.…

Questionable events arose after the sinking because the only evidence about that night was the stories told by the few survivors. It was known that on April 10th 1912, the Titanic set sail on her first voyage from Southampton. On April 14th at 11:40 p.m. the ship struck an iceberg on her starboard side of the bow. On April 15th at 2:20 a.m., the Titanic 's broken off stern sank into the sea (Amy 2). For many people, it was hard to believe that the largest ship ever built had sunk on its maiden voyage. Since it was thought that Titanic could stay afloat with even the hardest of impacts it was hard to imagine that the Titanic went down just because of an iceberg that scratched her bow. Therefore, the world was shocked the morning of April 15th when news broke out that Titanic had gone down in less than three hours. A recently uncovered family secret has revealed new information as to why the Titanic sank so rapidly. Today, the Titanic lies at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean in two pieces and a big debris field surrounding two square miles. The shipwreck site is one of the deepest places on Earth to be explored and has brought us new knowledge about the tragic events of April 15thas well as biological processes currently occurring…

“The partly filled lifeboat standing by about 100 yards away never came back. Why on Earth they never came back is a mystery. How could any human being fail to heed those cries”. - Jack B Thayer, Titanic Survivor The story “Exploring the Titanic ” by author Robert D. Ballard describes why the Titanic sinks. The story “Exploring the Titanic” is about a ship called the Titanic that took off from England to New York. However on the voyage they crashed into an iceberg. Many people died this day because of this horrible tragedy. The three reasons that led to the crash of the Titanic are the non-watertight steel, it was to big to maneuver easily, and the radio operator was off. On the other hand, others believe that it was because of the mummy's…

The ship set sail from Portsmouth, England early yesterday morning and we have been sailing for almost a whole 24 hours; I’m assuming we’re about 40 degrees north of the equator. It’s a perfect day out for sailing, the water is crystal blue, my hair is softly blowing though the wind, and there’s not a cloud in sight. Today my job was to use a dredge. A dredge takes samples along the surface of the seafloor while being dragged across the bottom. I didn’t have much luck today finding large organisms other than a few normal fish, but we did bring up some mud with insects living in it. The insects were tiny seemed to have been feeding on the mud. They looked to be worms with legs. Only much slimmer than worms…

The Marconi officer inside of the Carpathia has sent images that passengers have taken. The iceberg shown is reported to have a red streak of paint down the side and may have caused this dreadful accident. Now, the Titanic was reported to be completely unsinkable. This rumor was spread probably due to the sixteen watertight compartments in the bottom. The ship was supposed to be able to float even if four of the sixteen compartments (that’s one out of four) were completely filled with water. The ship was supposed to offer weekly passages to England and New York. The tickets for first class were about $800. Second class cost about $100, and third class was $30. There is another ship, called the Gigantic, that will be coming out soon, as a sister ship. The Olympic has already been released and has experienced no difficulty in it’s sailing life. The Titanic was supposed to be that grandest ship, and it was, for five days. The ship was built in Northern Ireland, in Belfast. It then passed it’s tests (sea trials) with flying colors. It set out on on April 10, 1912, heading for Cherbourg, France to pick up (and drop off) more passengers. Next it headed to Ireland (County Cork). It then headed out across the ocean, bound for New York. Several ships sent the Titanic ice warnings, but Captain Smith apparently ignored those warnings and continued on. He did not slow, meaning that he could not turn fast enough…
