Hobby is described as a regular activity that is done for pleasure. Common misconceptions about hobbies are that some think that hobbies or recreations are just for people who live a relaxed life or people who have been retired and have time on their hands, while others believe that hobbies are just a waste of time. On the other hand, people with full, busy, even stressful lives can benefit from hobbies just as much if not more than the average person.…

Many people have hobbies, some for stress relief, some for enjoyment, and others just to help time pass. My hobby, is playing Football. There are many reasons I love to call this sport my hobby, the relationships, and most importantly, the grind. The rewards that one gains from playing Football is far more than the social status and popularity, some fans may assume that is the reason we play. Football is about much more than that to me, it is about building bonds that last for years. Building relationships with coaches that have been where you are, and have gone through what you’ve been through and can help you through the journey. Being pushed to the brink of what you can do, mentally and physically, and having your team there going through it with you. Helping each other up when nobody thought they could take another step. Fighting to the last minute in a close game and coming out on top with 0:00 on the clock, with your team being up by one point. Walking out on the field under the lights and knowing that everything, the crowd, the lights, the stadium, is for YOU and YOUR TEAM. Football has been my hobby since I was ten years old, and although I’ve been through hell and back because of this sport, it will continue to be the thing I love most to do until the last time I take off my helmet.…

Surprisingly, even the worse fashion mistakes before are now being considered the latest in the fashion world. The old clothes of our parents in the 1970s are now making a huge comeback this year, like those funky jumpsuits, tracksuits, casual denims, bold pants, and boho headbands. Bellbottom jeans were popular in the 1970s as well, and they have made several comebacks in the 1980s, the 1990s, and even today (styleflair.com). It was popular in the 70s and 80s to be “hip” and original, wearing things and listening to music that is not exactly in the mainstream of popular culture, but is popular amongst a certain group. These people were called “hipsters.” It seems everyone wants to be a “hipster” these days as well. Not only do fashion trends recycle themselves, but popular music as well, seems to be repeating itself.…

    Popular American Culture

There are many trends that exist in popular American culture, but I would like to discuss three of those trends: food, fashion, and living. The current trend with food is eating out; many people prefer to eat out at restaurants and try different cuisines over cooking and eating at home. This is a trend in popular American culture that I happen to be very influenced by. This trend has its downfalls as it is part of the reason society has many individuals who are obese and malnutrition. The trend in food is now changing towards eating healthy as society is moving towards healthy living. Fashion is a trend that exceeds almost all trends as we are surrounded with it through television and advertisements. We are exposed to those who are rich, famous, and influential to us and we desire to wear what they wear; and we want to look like them. The same goes for living;…

Throughout the years of growing up, people begin to realize their surroundings more frequently and focus less on themselves. Society sets norms for each culture that are said to be the ‘right’ or ‘normal’ way of acting upon things. Many people try to fit in with the norms so they don’t stand out from others, focusing negative attention on themselves. Although there are plenty of options on how to live your life and express yourself, people only soak in the common lifestyle and image that is said to be recommended or recognized. “We have neglected to accept alternative lifestyles and images because many of us continue to look to others to see how we…
