Moreover, playing on ice is easy on the joints, because it is low impact. Also, it improves coordination and balance. A good example of and ice sport is hockey. Hockey is a team based sport which requires good physical and skating skills. The players use their fast skating abilities to score a goal on the other team. Another example of an ice sport is figure skating, which can be performed solo or in pairs. Figure skating, like ballet, deals with movement, balance, and posture. In contrast to hockey, it requires tight clothes to complement movements made by the figure skater.

A healthy heart is essential for a hockey slap shot. Hockey is mostly thought of as an anaerobic sport/exercise as players play in shifts that can range from 1-2 minutes. For that short amount of time they will exhaust a significant amount of energy that could sustain someone for a much longer duration. Performing a slap shot is an explosive movement. The slap shot can be categorized into 3 stages of movement - Preparation, Windup, and Follow Through/Impact. Consequently the intense nature of the movement causes an increase in your heart rate particularly at the follow through/ impact which is when the player actually will attempt to take the shot .…

In health and social care many risk assessments are taken to make sure the place is safe but there are still few things that are unstable or accidents that are not expected to happen. College has so far exceeded my expectations in a huge way. As a new member of the ice hockey team there were many uncertainties and worries, as well as tons of excitements and anticipations. Obviously the biggest part, school, was nerve wracking and exciting too. This created a bit more nerves then excitement for the classroom aspect of school since i've only taken 3 college courses since graduating high school, making it a bit harder to get back into the swing of things. Besides getting back into school routine, being a hockey player in college has made the beginning…

The Uniform Crime Report (UCR) was designed, developed and implemented by law enforcement for use as a tool for operational and administrative purposes (Uniform, 2004). The program was developed in 1929 under the auspices of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, and was later endorsed by the National Sheriff’s Association, which acts in an advisory capacity today. It was the first comprehensive system of crime information developed on a national scale. Because statutes varied so greatly from state to state in their use of terminology for describing criminal behavior, a set of definitions was developed for criminal acts to overcome this problem and it was determined that law enforcement would tabulate the number of criminal acts as defined by the UCR program as they were brought to the attention of law enforcement. Because of the volume involved, it was decided that only serious criminal acts would be counted.…
