MODULE INFORMATION
Business is increasingly international in its supply chains, routine transactions, and strategic focus. The workforce in both large and small firms reflects the diversity of the world’s peoples. Within this environment, management careers are increasingly pursued internationally. The international reach of contemporary business brings inevitable complexity to the management task, as managers strive to maximize the productive potential of global markets through the development of their understanding of international competitors and consumers.
The development of intercultural competences has emerged as a primary requirement for managers in both domestic and international corporations.
This module investigates the nature of international management and examines key themes and dilemmas that confront managers in an increasingly integrated and globalised environment. The key focus is on the development of intercultural awareness and an exploration of the techniques that enable managers to work successfully, celebrating the diversity of the myriad approaches to the global management task.
During our work together, you will learn to assess the international management environment and its complexities. We will explore managers’ options as they consider the potential for international business. As part of this process, we will examine the factors that influence decision-making style and business values in the international environment.
