Hollywood Bounty Hunter
"Hollywood" Bounty Hunter

Most Police Departments require a uniform that clearly identify's their patrol division. The word uniform is defined as; A distinct outfit intended to identify those who wear it as members of a specific group.

Through my many years of bail recovery and private investigations I have observed many people working within the industry wearing many different type of clothing. Bounty hunters wear plain clothes, uniforms, tactical battle dress, and a few other variants. I have also witnessed many different type of identifying markers on the clothing such as "Bail Enforcement", "Fugitive Recovery", "Agent", and some go further to indicate State and Federal Affiliations such as U.S. Recovery Bureau.

When Bounty Hunters decide to wear full black battle dress uniforms (BDU's) complete with or without masks it opens the entire industry to special scrutiny. Bounty hunters that decide to wear all black while working in the field do not realize the potential for mistaken identity.

In 2011 bounty hunters in Jacksonville, Florida dressed in black BDU's attempted to arrest a wanted fugitive. They did everything correctly and notified law enforcement of the their location and intentions. As they attempted to locate the defendant, neighbors called 911 and advised them of a possible home invasion. The description was three men dressed in black carrying weapons trying to force entry into a residence. There was an error with the police dispatching and the responding officers were not notified of the bail recovery activity. When officers arrived they observed a person in all black carrying a gun. The officer opened fire killing one of the bounty hunters and seriously wounding another. The officers were cleared in the shooting because of the men in black problem.

When law enforcement utilized their SWAT teams, who also wear BDU's, they also utilize clearly marked police vehicles and sometimes deploy uniformed patrol officers so there is no

Police officers and the press saw it as a symbol of crime, gangster activity, worn by pachucos (punks to the police). After the mass arrests, Sergeant Smith shows his disdain of their bravado by saying “You pachucos are regular tough guys” (Zoot Suit 1.3.1). Sergeant Smith is sarcastically calling pachucos tough guys, showing that zoot suits symbolize what he considers is weak. In the next scene, Sergeant Smith states zooters lack discipline and hide behind the zoot suits. “I hear tell you pachucos wear these monkey suits as a kind of armor. Is that right? How’s it work? This is what you zooters need—a little old-fashioned discipline” (Zoot Suit 1.4.41). The Press also adds to zoots suits symbolizing crime, “ZOOT-SUITED GOONS OF SLEEPY LAGOON” (Zoot Suit 1.5.15) and comments such as “The Zoot Suit Crime Wave is even beginning to push the war news off the…

This is usually pulled in the stereotype off how many officers target many African American and judge them because of their skin tone. This is could possibly be just a stereotype caused by altered video recording, yet more than enough cases have been presented to form an organization, Black Live Matter, that opposes this. This organization was created to fight along the opposing of the controversy on the subject after the Police officer George Zimmerman was not held responsible for his action towards the Trayvon Martin, a seven-teen-year-old, who was shot for no particular reason, and was injured after no evidence at the moment of the ‘crime’. Although at the moment of the crime there is mostly a “do or die situation,” there should still be a few guidelines before taking out a gun and pointing at a civilian. There is no way an officer can arrive at the distress situation and analyze the circumstances, meaning he does not know who the real victim is. Assuming who is the victim by people running away is a problem that is associated with the racism in this case. The regulation of a hit and run situation should involve an action less harmful which can prevent death from a pull of a trigger. Cops should have certain weapons besides guns that can paralyze the suspect. These regulations can save many of innocent lives from the hands of cops…
