The Donna J. Seifert and Joseph Balicki’s article, Mary Ann Hall's House, discusses about the archaeological investigations conducted at two vacant lots located at a proposed building site for the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington D.C. In the archaeological investigations, the archaeologists discovered material remains associated with a mid-nineteenth brothel called Mary Ann Hall’s (Seifert and Balicki 2005:59). In addition to the discovery of the brothel, the archaeologists also discovered other households from the mid-nineteenth century that were built around the same time as the brothel. The two excavation sites provides an interesting case study in North American historical archaeology because, archaeologists working…
In the video Hothouse Babies, a mother began to teach her child at the age of three to learn multiplication, addition, subtraction, and other school related study habits. I would have to agree with the mother's parenting style because it will allow the child to be more prepared and ahead of the game when she actually has to learn these certain things. Additionally, she would benefit from this parenting style by establishing confidence, enthusiasm for life long learning, socialization, early academic success, and improves linguistic skills as well. All of these factors will benefit the child for becoming academically successful. Not only will it result in higher grade too, but improved attention spans and better…
There is always a more extensive range of situations that could happen to a child being brutally abused. In the book A Child Called It, by Dave Pelzer, I believe that a variety of situations, good and bad will happen to Dave in the next few chapters. I predict the atrocious and exploitative actions Dave's mother is doing will lead a school staff member to find out about the abuse, Dave’s father to leave the home and Dave to be hospitalized.…

Russ is also wonderful at basketball and…
Thoughts, words, ideas, and attitudes can be as much a weapon as a gun or knife. Throughout time, people have been hurting each other with their explosive thoughts, painful words, and poisonous ideas. They accuse each other of things they did not do and call each other things they are not. In the tale “The Monsters are Due on Maple Street” by Rod Serling this is shown. One character says “The tools of conquest do not necessarily come with bombs and explosions and fallout.” Once again, this can be seen throughout stories, history, and life.…

The Graveyard Book is a mystical tale about a boy named Nobody Owens that, because of a tragic murder, is brought up by ghosts. In order to understand Gaiman’s novel, it is important to look at: setting, plot, and theme. Without all of those parts, The Graveyard Book would not be the chilling mystery that it is because they make the story stand out within the realm of fantasy. Nobody Owens is the main character of the story. The inhabitants of Potter’s Field gave him the Freedom of the Graveyard which impacts his interactions with those who are living. For instance, when Bod and Scarlett first go to the Frobisher Mausoleum,…
When I was growing up it wasn’t so easy. The amount of work the public needed to put in was so tremendous. During the time of the Great Depression I was only nine years old. My mother and father had six children all together before the rising of this terrible time, but only two of them were girls. The rest of us, including me, are boys. Papa left us without a word, midst the disaster. Momma then started seeing a man named Jacob; they didn’t have kids because we had no money. Marriages couldn’t admittedly happen concerning the depression so none of us kids could say that they were actually married, although in our minds they were. I wasn’t very fond of Jacob in behalf of his lack of an appropriate father figure, but at least he didn’t leave our family. He was actually trying to find a job and helped us find food to eat.…
