Homeless Veterans Case Study
There should be no difference when you providing services at the MacDill AFB job fair, or any other job fair and at the Homeless Outreach Committee. You should prepare the same way, have CSTB tablecloth and flyers needed to inform on Veteran population about CSTB services. You were assigned by Business Services Director And I am confident that this could assist you with reaching out more non Veterans and ultimately increase your numbers. Rosa is providing service to Homeless Veterans on a quarterly basis and you should do the same o to non-veterans. Is that sound too complicated?

I am currently fulfilling my passion as social work intern at Interfaith Ministries – Meals on Wheels (MOW) which is located on 3303 Main St. Houston TX. 77002. MOW has been around for many years assisting homebound older adults usually over the age of sixty with nutritional meals. MOW provides more than 4,300 meals in the Houston area. However MOW just recently expanded their routes to service some parts of Galveston. There are some eligible clients that qualify for additional meals such as breakfast, frozen weekend meals. I have noticed a higher population of Hispanic, African-American, and Caucasian clients, mostly in low poverty areas and have little-to-low income. There are many homebound clients that do not have social support and just…

Hays County Veterans Services is a county funded organization. The county is the one providing the resource and the funding. While it is considered public, only veterans and family members with specific qualifying factors acting on behalf of the veteran can utilize the service. “Public social agencies are run by some designated unit of government and are usually regulated by laws impacting policy” (Kirst-Ashman, 2013, p. 132). Because Hays County Veterans Services does not make any profits since its source of funding comes from the county and they do not seek to make a profit (Kirst-Ashman, 2013, p.…

At Cacciutti Veteran Educational Foundation, our belief is that our discharged veterans deserve added consideration when obtaining gainful education and employment opportunities to be able to support themselves, along with proper medical care, both physical and psychological, to help the veteran assimilate into civilian life. Cacciutti Veteran Educational Foundation has noticed the lack of capable, skilled workers to take over for those who are exiting their respective fields, along with the rising unemployment rate and psychological problems of returning combat veterans like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as the problems that even non-combat veterans have assimilating back into civilian society. So Cacciutti Veteran Educational…

We cannot be more than three car lengths away. My eyes are drawn to him, they are fixed and I cannot pull away. It must be 80 degrees on this hot and hazy Saturday afternoon yet with ease and comfort he wears a green hooded army jacket that also appears to be lined. It is not dirty, but it is not necessarily clean either. It is old! That’s what it is, old. His dulled out brownish salt and pepper hair appears finger-combed away from his face. Surely his full beard provides some protection from the intensity of the sun. His skin is aged, tan and weathered yet his face remains expressionless as if injected with Botox. His back is protected with the shade cast by the shadow of the tree he is sitting under. The leaves of the tree prove to be as unreliable as the conditions of life as they allow rays of sunlight to enter here and there. The light breeze offers some relief as it offers a refreshing cool air and then drastically changes as if blowing segments of sun rays in our direction. As each car approaches, he gazes upward ever so…

The goal of volunteer programs is best served by the active participation of citizens in the community. To this end, Texas Citizen Corps accepts and encourages the involvement of volunteers at all levels of the disaster response and within all appropriate programs and activities. Collaborating organizations should be encouraged to assist in the creation of meaningful and productive roles in which volunteers might serve during a disaster and to assist in the recruitment of such volunteers, either trained or spontaneous, from the community.…

My choice for the service learning project was a retirement community called Westminster Thurber Community. I chose this community because of its location at 717 Neal Ave. Columbus, OH 43215. I attended a total of four two-to-three hour days during the month of February and March. The dates and times are listed in order; 2/26 from 2pm-5pm, 2/28 from 3pm-5pm, 3/10 from 3pm-5pm, and finally 3/31 from 2pm-5pm. I showed up rain or shine always about fifteen minutes early so that I could get acquainted with the community and socialize with the residents as I waited for Jamie.…
