Homework filled holiday
Why do teachers assign homework to students during holidays? Is it because that the teachers feel that students are supposed to have more time to do homework as they do not have to attend school? I feel that homework are assigned to students so that they will not lose touch with the subject when school reopens. As some students take up to 10 subjects, their homework load is sure heavy. Although students do not have to attend classes during holidays, most of them prefer not to have holidays as their holidays are spent on co-curricular activity (CCA), extra classes, projects and homework.

During holidays, students often have to return school for more than twice per week just to attend extra classes, especially the graduating cohort, and most of the time is due to the teachers being unable to cover the required syllabus for examinations. If it is only some classes that need extra lessons, it is understandable, but if the whole cohort is unable to complete the syllabus, something is wrong. As many teachers or different subjects are unable to finish teaching the required syllabus, seems that the syllabus required is too heavy.

Many parents are complaining about their children having to return school many times per week during holidays and they are always blaming the teachers for it. But, spare a thought of the teachers too, they too have to sacrifice their holiday to the benefits of the students, spending lesser time with their family members. Students often benefit from the extra classes, however the teachers gain nothing from the classes, they only get excuses from students from not attending the classes and receive complaints from parents.

Changing the five day school week has been argued for and against due the controversy as to whether or not it would actually be beneficial to students and teachers. When approaching the idea, many people would like to believe that five day school weeks are the most efficient and productive way to educate our youth. What is often overlooked, however, is that it is causing students to dread school more than they already do, and lessen their willingness to be in or attentive at school. Not only this, but many teachers easily get behind on either grading or lesson planning, while the school could actually save money when switching to this schedule. By refreshing the way the school schedule has previously been, we can address the issue of exhausted students who don 't truly learn anything, teachers who are overwhelmed with work and the economic questions within America 's schools. Providing both students and teachers with a more equal week of break and school time by having Wednesdays off will make students more willing to attend school, give the teachers time to furnish their lesson plans and give the school a break in costs.…

When students have less days to worry about, it will make them work harder so they can finish of the week sooner.…

Have you ever wondered why teachers take a whole month to review everything from the previous year or why students tend to forget everything? Every year, students are keeping their calendars at hand and counting down the days until summer vacation. It’s the last day of school and when the final bell rings, kids are ready to do nothing for three months. However, is this really a good thing? The possibility of having year-round schools is at hot debate topic right now and it is time for change from traditional calendar schools. Many parents use summer activities as childcare while they are working. Such as summer camps. But when the students are out on break when these camps are not in session, parents would be forced to find other child care at a costly price (“Year Round Schools Pros and Cons”). Year round schooling could also interfere with these camps. So students would not be able to attend camps such as boy scouts, girl scouts, and enrichment camps that they may use in their future lives because they would be in school. Another problem is that parents and families reject the year-round schooling and the schools lose the cooperation of the families. Year round schooling also makes it difficult to plan summer vacations or even to find family time. The students must constantly be worrying about homework after school and also want to hang out with friends. This causes them to spend less and less time with their parents and siblings. This family time is very important for the student and the families health. Students need the support and guidance of their family to stay on the right track and do the right things. Lots of family time comes during summer break. When the students don’t have to worry about homework and can hang out with their friends during the day and then spend time with their families at night ("Year-Round School Pros and Cons."). If we take away this summer break students and family would not be spending enough quality family time together without missing school and this is not good for their well-being or their…
