A. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
In today’s generation there is a lot of questioning of ones sexuality which is a big issue among homosexuals in the Philippines. There are many issues of homosexual discrimination in the work place, schools, and there’s even discrimination in the home. Homosexuals are often referred to as gays, queers, sweet cakes, and plenty other derogative words or phrases. The freedom of expression is usually hidden because of the issue of homosexuality, many individuals feel insecure about their sexuality. In instances they have tend to stay isolated from other individuals and try to keep a low profile. Most people think of it as a sickness but it is a chosen life style. Homosexuality has been practiced throughout history. The ancient Greeks practiced male bonding and adolescent of young boys, which was associated with educational practices and philosophical ideals. Spiritual and educational aspects were the focus of what came to be known as 'Platonic love'. Platonic love is a non-sexual affectionate relationship.
B. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
How are homosexuals discriminated by the society in the social and moral aspect and in terms of their rights?
1. What rights have Filipino homosexuals been deprived of?
2. How can homosexuals in the US and in the Philippines are compared in terms of:
a. Response of the government to the struggle made by the homosexuals
b. Beliefs of the church
3. What are the hindrances that prevent the implementation of special laws to protect the rights of the homosexuals? C. Significance of the Study Discrimination to other people because of their gender in unjust. Showing awareness to the society on the presence of such discrimination can be a way to lessen the deprivation of rights of the homo sexual. This study will benefit students, law makers, homosexuals, professors, specialists in different fields concerning homosexuals and other researchers. D, PURPOSE OF THE STUDY
