Is a set of rules/guidelines for the pupils so they understand how they should behave and what is expected of them. It is important that the children are reminded of the code of conduct so that it becomes their routine and they fully understand it. It is essential that positive behaviour is always promoted, praised and used as children notice when adult’s behaviour is out of character, if positive and professional behaviour is continually used it…
Many schools in the United States whether it is high school, college, or a university have adopted the honor system. The honor system is sets of rules or principles that are intended to cultivate integrity. When this rule is enforced it is very useful in stopping practices like cheating, stealing, and plagiarizing. This system is very useful and should be established at all schools.…
There are codes of conduct set for specific areas also; “in class”, “around school”, “think before we act or speak” and “care for the environment”. Some of the rules include being punctual, listening to others, work quietly, use equipment carefully, dress appropriately, be helpful and friendly, share, be polite, not to use swear words, tell the truth, apologise for bad actions, respect other people's property, walk around school.…
• Why are the Student Code of Conduct and Student Code of Academic Integrity important to you and the University of Phoenix learning community?…
One quality that is very important for an honor council member is to be alert and have good listening skills. These are good qualities to have because you have to listen to the whole story well to discover the truth. The second quality that is important for an honor council member to have is confidentiality. Confidentiality is an important quality to have because an honor council member has to keep all hearings confidential and tell no one else about them. Another reason that confidentiality is important is because the person that had to go to a hearing most likely does not want anyone to know that they had to go to honor council. Knowledge of the school’s honor code and discipline policy is a very good quality of an honor council member because…
Follow the schools code of conduct, encourage positive behaviour and speak fairly to any pupil who is not following the rules.…
One thing that I greatly appreciated, when I was deciding which univeristy to attend, was how well Texas A&M expressed the Aggie Code of Honor. "Aggies do not lie, cheat, or steal or tolerate those who do." A very simple saying, but one that is heard and seen all around campus. It is tied to the university as much as the word "Howdy". It is great that this motto of academic integrity is already stiched to Texas A&M because its easier for professors and the university to promote academic integrity. Professors and the university need to continue to explicitly preach the Aggie Code of Honor throughout the semester as a reminder for students. Also one thing that students are not knowlegeable of are the consequences of acting acadebmically dishonest.…
Honor codes are extreme and far too harsh. These extreme policies ruin both the educational and future careers of students by causing them to either fail classes or be expelled from schools, making it more difficult to be accepted into other institutes and to find occupations. In some schools, for example: the University of Virginia, small accidents, such as leaving out a parenthetical citation, are punishable by expulsion (source D). It’s extremely important for students to…

WCCS should adopt an honor code because it sets the standard for the students to live by, creates an environment where cheating is less likely to occur, and helps students develop habits which can benefit them later in life. The honor code can have wide spread effects on a school, ranging from increasing the individual integrity of students to improving the school’s overall atmosphere.…
Another reason they don't take it seriously is because they don't get caught. In fact, 40% of students who have violated the honor code haven't been caught (Source E). This shows that just under 50% of students don't get caught. This is a huge percentage considering that honor codes are suppose to stop student's scandals. In Sheyenne High School, if we had honor codes, student's wouldn't take it seriously either because they can get away with their behavior. Also, the fact that students fail to confront or report a student encourages student's behavior of disobeying the school's honor code. Students wouldn't confront or report their peer(s) because it would "create friction" and they feared that their report wouldn't be confidential. Therefore, Sheyenne High School shouldn't establish a honor code because they won't take them…
Some ways that my school can become stricter in the honors system are, possibly using cameras to watch kids from above as stated in Source A. The school staffs could become better at detecting cheaters. One way that this could happen is getting a computer program that detects plagiarism. What students need to know is that their name will not be brought. That is why these programs are being held up in success. Students are afraid of, “What if I get I reported on?” Cheating in schools is pretty much on-going. As Source D says, “The Internet provides a lot sources of information, and it’s tempting to simply insert phrases directly into reports.”…
Countless schools have implemented honor codes. These are principles that are intended to foster integrity. Academic misconduct can range between cheating, plagiarism, misrepresentation, fabrication of document (s), Improper use of resources provided by the school, theft, etc. Honor codes are important because it builds reliability, honesty, it challenges students to academically produce originality in their work and enforces responsibility. At the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI), Scholars registered at this school are presumed to be of a good moral character, talented, and are expected to display acceptable standards of conduct.…
Attributes of a Crestwood National Honor Society member include: scholarship, leadership, service, and character. I believe that throughout the past three years at Crestwood High School, I have been able to develop all four of these characteristics through maintaining a 4.0 GPA, joining the NEIC leadership team, moving towards completing volunteer hours for Silver Cord, and being a part of Crestwood athletics. By preforming all of these tasks, hopefully I have shown the ability to contribute to the Crestwood National Honor Society.…
This is where I get to my point of really seeking someone else’s point of view on the subject of integrity. So therefore I interviewed an honest and courageous person here at Rocky Mount Prep. Mrs. Rodriguez, a Spanish teacher at school has seen many things that could represent Integrity at this school. This she pointed out an example of one incident a time near the beginning of the school year. “Towards the beginning of the year, we had a situation that affected a student and someone who put glue on his desk” she explained. “When we finally got the class settled down, I pulled out the group of students who sat in the sounding desks. When brought into the hall I asked them simply if they knew what was going…
