Being a part of The Honors College at Appalachian State University has been a goal of mine ever since I learned of my eligibility and went on the Honors Campus tour. I was blown away by the students I met in the program and the facilities. I felt like I belonged and I could see myself being part of The Honors College. I personally feel as though being an active participant in The Honors College will help me to grow as a life-long learner and strong community member wherever I choose to go. Personally, I believe I will become a stronger student in the classroom and in life. The Honors College will give me the ability to connect with other students who are on a similar mental level as I am. I will be able to share ideas and thoughts will other …show more content…
I am interested in doing a thesis project related to my intended major of Communication and my interest in film studies. I am considering a film project on a social issue, very likely mental illness or for aiding abused women. These are topics that I feel very strongly about. Mental illness is treated as taboo and needs to be shown as a true illness, not a lack of ability or weakness. Also, domestic violence is a serious issue that happens every day to many women and action needs to be taken to help these victims and punish the predators. I hope to use my acquired skills to bring light to these issues and cause a change. I sincerely hope that you choose me for your program. I know that I don’t need to brag about my academic achievements; you are more than aware of those. I am already eligible and that’s why you have opened your application to me. I have to tell you about the vigor and dedication that I plan to bring to The Honors College. I can assure you that I am not lacking in enthusiasm and perseverance. Being accepted into The Honors College would be a privilege and an honor. Thank you so much for your time. I hope to hear from you

The public education system in the United States puts a greater emphasis on test scores and grades that it does actual learning. While around 80 percent of high school students graduate, most of them are not being prepared for what comes next. I have come to believe that there is more to education that a decent GPA, so I have tried to enrich myself with as much real-world experience as possible during my time in high school, while still trying to maintain my grades. My time in leadership positions, desire to work with other intellectual individuals, and rigorous academic goals all make me an exceptional candidate for the Honors College at East Carolina University.…

I know that admission into the Schreyer Honors College is not necessary for me to gain study abroad and internship opportunities, however, I am aware that these are hallmarks of many Schreyer Scholars. I can promise that I am driven to take part in these opportunities and will do anything necessary to make these happen for me. Undergraduate research is another reason as to why I am seeking admittance into the Schreyer Honors College. Again, I know that my membership is not necessary for this opportunity. However, thanks to the aforementioned honors courses and study abroad experiences, I feel that my research thesis can be something that is very unique to me and something that the Schreyer Honors College has never seen a student study before, probably like most students. I am essentially seeking to conduct my own research and make a difference for Penn State and myself, and I will work above and beyond what is expected of me to make this happen. As I hope you can see, I desire to be a part of Schreyer to enhance my own life and make a difference to Penn State, as opposed to any special recognition. My membership into the Schreyer Honors College will be the drive that I need to succeed academically and work towards my goals. I know that I will be a positive addition to the…

The mission of the Honors College is something that represents the environment I enjoy and thrive in. Firstly, the community surrounding education and conversation is something unique and truly mesmerizing. I know that I am in a good place when my peers thoroughly enjoy discussing a multitude of topics, regardless of who they are, what they’re studying, and where they’ve come from. The Honors College is one of these places that gives everyone a voice and the ability to generate open discussions on various topics. Also, the undergraduate research that the Honors College provides will enable me to continue connecting with professors and delve into my passions within my major. Mr. Bill Robinson, an Associate Professor of Management in the Krannert School, is an example of a professor that I see myself bonding with over our interest in new product development. The opportunities to learn alongside professors and seek extra help when needed, is beneficial to learning wholeheartedly. Thirdly, the value student leadership is a wonderful aspect of the Honors College. As Claire Lee, a current Honors College student said in the informational video about leadership development within the program, “student leadership combines the academics at Purdue with the real world experience.” The ability to apply knowledge…

I have become fond of the liberal arts education The College of Charleston offers, which emphasizes exploration into all areas of academia. An example of this would be the honors history courses that interest me, as I enjoy learning beyond my focus of science, and into other areas that create an appreciation for society’s diversity. One of the many aspects of the Honors College I find engaging are the academic opportunities unique to the Honors College that allow students to develop in their major interests, but also diversify their knowledge in all areas, as the academic requirements extend from calculus to western civilization. The opportunities the Honors College extends to its students are what make it appealing to me, and my experience so far in college has led me to believe that I am the right fit for the Honors College, as it would help me develop as a person, and help me achieve my…
