I believe that being a part of the Honors Program would be a wonderful opportunity for me personally because I recognize that it could be beneficial to me with regards to my education and career goals. I am currently in the midst of pursuing a career within the medical field. Specifically, I’m am either hoping to enroll in a RN to BSN program and continue on to become a certified registered nurse anesthetist or major in biology in hopes of being admitted into an accredited medical school. Once accepted into medical school, I would like to either focus on neurology or immunology and receive my MD. After medical school I will begin to pursue my career as either a neurologist or immunologist. The reason why I am interested in the Honors Program is because I enjoy being challenged academically and getting the most out of what the course has to offer. I also love learning new information and being able to apply it to real life situations rather than simply restricting it to the classroom. Along with the enriched coursework that would be associated with the Honors Program, meeting other …show more content…
Bede Academy. While I was taking honors courses at St. Bede I made it a goal to work very hard to keep up all of my grades in every class while also participating in various clubs and athletics. My hard work eventually paid off at the end of the school year when I ended up with all A’s and B’s in my courses and ended up as number nine in my class. It would be an amazing opportunity for me to be admitted into the IVCC Honors Program, not only because it would complement my hard work ethic, but also because it would provide me with an amazing college and educational experience. Thank you so much for considering me for the Honors Program and I hope that I will be one of the few lucky students to be admitted into the

Throughout my four years of high school, I have consistently pushed myself beyond my limits and comfort zones in attempt to discover my place in the world. I spent most of first two years discovering who I was as an individual, ultimately manifesting into inspiration for success. I grew out of “fitting in” and decided to turn my life and aspirations towards a greater direction; on this road of discovery, I separated myself from those who valued arrogance and indifference. “Nerd Squad” is what I am a part of today, which is why I am currently confident enough to apply for the National Honors Society Scholarship. I believe I have grown into a tenacious, sympathetic, and joyous young man that the entire school has seen develop, and I am honored…

I would like to begin by saying that I am honored to be a nominee for membership into the 2013 Senior Honor Society of York College of Pennsylvania. I take passion in my academic studies and my community involvement. The opportunity to be recognized for the impact I have made on my college and local community is truly flattering. After spending my first two years at Millersville University, I began my studies at York College in my third year of college as a junior. Living in Spring Grove, I made the decision to live at home, work a part-time job, and commute to York College. These factors are all things that could have impacted my campus-life involvement, but I was determined to not let these factors impact my college experience. I jumped head first into the York College Community and was accepted with open arms into whatever groups I wanted to become affiliated with on campus.…

I would like to be part of William Penn Honors Program for a multitude of reasons. First, and foremost, I love to learn. I especially love history and reading the great writers and thinkers of history. I believe the William Penn Honors Program will be a rigorous, but rewarding experience, where I can learn from these great thinkers of history by pondering the ideas of the ancients and our forefathers and applying them to life today. Additionally, education is important, however, as the proverb states, “Knowledge without wisdom is futile.” Therefore, another reason I want to be part of the William Penn Honors Program is the stated emphasis on honing your critical thinking skills and deepening your understanding and cultural awareness. As a student of the UIC's Honor College I believe that I will bring new innovative ideas to my fellow students and to those around me. I not only will aspire to better myself, but to encourage those around me to be the best student they can be. As the youngest sibling I have endured through many challenges. From struggling to explain my opinion about a subject in a way that will back up my reasoning to asserting my role as a leader. Although at times I have felt like giving up, I have prevailed. I learned how to state my opinion in a way that is informative, yet not rude. One challenge that I felt I excelled in exceptionally is being a leader. I have immersed myself in multiple school activates that leadership is a necessity. I am currently the president of the twelfth grade book club and a board member of the Senior Committee. With the skills that I have learned as a result of those positions I will be able to implement them in the classroom and in school events. As a student of UIC’s Honor College I plan to make use of all the advantages given to me. With the benefits provided to me I plan to take advantage of the honor courses that apply to Physical Therapy. I would also like to study abroad if I were given the opportunity to because I believe that you can learn a lot by immersing yourself in different cultures. It would be an honor for me to take part in the Honor College as a tutor because as a student who has had the experience of being both a tutor and a student I know that it can be a rewarding experience.…

Being average is not okay for me, I want to do my best and reach my fullest potential in everything I do. I like being challenged mentally and that is exactly what the Honors Program will do for me. In the Honors Program I will be able to engage in social and cultural seminars that I know I will thoroughly enjoy. I have been a part of Diversity Club where different cultures come together to share ideas, exchange food, and get to know more about each others’ culture, so I have an idea of what seminars are like. I am a very outgoing person and I love to meet and interact with new people so through these seminars and projects I will be able to do that. I would also like to get a broader perspective on the world and throughout the many different projects, I will gain that. For one, honors colleges enhance the prestige of their education by hiring high-achieving staff who allow students to provide a leavening influence on the campus and then go on to achieve great things. This reinforces how they can serve as spaces of creativity; conversation; intellectualism; collegiality allowing ideas of the future to run free. Honors colleges provide an atmosphere where students can be intellectually independent. With all the opportunities they open for students my future has the potential to be filled with achievements. To conclude, my intellectual goal at Appalachian State University Honors College would be to complete an outstanding thesis with indisputable evidence about the mergers of companies, how they manage their finances, or how they could increase sales. There appears to be some understandable confusion among students about what “Honors” means at JCCC because in addition to the Honors Program students may achieve “Civic Honors” through the Service Learning Program. Also, one needs to be in Honors to take Honors classes, and we do not necessarily restrict the word “Honors” to the program. Then, you add PTK to the mix and students can receive admission to an “Honors” society while not being active in it or even involved in the Honors Program. Clearly, we can see the issue of semantics coming into play here.…

Being in the honors program would be a highly enriching experience in which I would not only get to push myself harder academically, but it would also help me get more involved during the breaks. This would mean I could maximize my time pursuing my goal. I also look forward to taking advantage of research opportunities on campus, which I believe are beneficial for any major. I have been playing Piano from the age of five and therefore I think nothing can be more apt that quoting Mozart to begin my essay on my interest in the Honors college. I gained my understanding about the Purdue Honors college from the numerous YouTube videos posted under “ Purdue Honors”. I have a deep interest in mathematical algorithms, which I could not develop much in high school due to the very valid time constraints of my high school math teacher, who understandably had to spend more time with students who needed help. I believe the smaller class size and in-depth curriculum at the Honors College will give me the opportunity to go above and beyond what is expected. I do my best when the bench mark is set high and the honors College will provide the environment that will stretch me and make me always ask…
