Hope In Eve Bunting's '¨fly Away Home'
Not giving up...Itś a positive thing that can help you in life for a better future. In the story, ¨Fly Away Home,¨ by Eve Bunting, Andrew, a kid who has lost his mother a while back and lives in the airport, is one character of many who show how not giving up hope is important. The theme of never giving up hope is seen in the story with how the characters don't get noticed, how they are courageous and brave, and how they work towards a better future.

In the story, is a common detail throughout the story. Andrew and his dad have to not get noticed or else they will get kicked out for living there. ¨We stay among the crowds¨. They don’t sleep close to their friends because that will get them noticed easily. They also sleep upright instead of laying down because that will also very easily get them noticed for living there. They are constantly moving from airport to airport each night so the security guards won’t notice that they are living in the airports. This is one of the reasons that supports my claim.

His mom died a few years back, but that didn’t stop him from keeping on going with life. When his dad goes to work he stays with his friends Denny and Denny’s Grandmother for the day who also live in the airport. Another way Andrew shows courage and doesn’t give up is how he helps people out with luggage for 50 cents a bag. ¨Can I call you a cab?¨ Another way he helps is that he calls cabs for people that need a ride. These are the ways that Andrew is courageous and doesn’t give up

The first major theme is that people should never stop moving forward. In other words, this means that no matter what life throws at someone, people need to find the strength to pick them selves up. “These thoughts were going through my mind as I continued to run, not feeling my numb foot, not even realizing that I was still running, that I still owned a body that galloped down the road among thousands of others.”…

At first sight, these two works have little things in common. The settings are very different one from another and the narratives depicted different times and also different historical contexts. Mary Rowlandson was a Puritan woman, wife and daughter of Puritans’ reverends, established in Lancaster, Massachusetts, in the colony called New England. The book entitled A Narrative of the Captivity and Restoration of Mrs. Mary Rowlandson (1682) reports her captivity – with her children – by Indians during King Philip’s War in 1676. She was captive eleven weeks that ended with her release after undergo extreme conditions in wilderness, even the death of her youngest child in Mary’s arms the first week of the captivity, and only with the companion of a bible.…

When the query asking him about what symbol he would choose to represent him, he broke down the admittedly unfair expectation of a silly response. For the first time during this exchange, he donned an earnest expression as he attempted to seriously structure the words he wanted to say. Settling his thoughts, he decided that a fist would accurately embody him. With concise but genuine words, he simply explained that both him and a fist depicted strength. When asked what the importance of strength to him was, Andrew referred to an earlier question he was asked; “what is the greatest advice an older family member has told you that you still apply now?” His answer was “never let people get too close.” He explained that living by that specific advice has inadvertently built a wall of protection around him. With this wall, he is indifferent to painful dilemmas and it has prevented him from getting hurt. Andrew’s smile was not present during his explanation, but his honesty and emotion was…

The last possible theme that I think is good for this book is to never have fear and if you do have fear, you won’t survive. One event that supports this theme is when Uri tells the other orphan boys that if you have fear you won’t survive on the streets. This is true because if the boys had fear to steal the food from stores and people they would mess-up a lot or not even do it. If that happened, they would either get caught and killed, or just end up…

As the details in this essay illustrate the people who fail are the ones, who’s bigger than they are, and those who prevail, face a problem that’s manageable. In these chapters we have learned that many people need help for they can succeed in life. Adversity around the world around us is very difficult. Prevailing isn’t easy, you have to try enough to get there. If I were a character in the book Tears of a Tiger, I would tell Andy “Feel your heart is it beating? That’s the whole purpose of it, you’ve made it this far through a lot stuff, can’t quit now never quit”!…

In “Courage for beginners” by Karen Harrington, the characters imaginative and depressing qualities contribute to the speaker’s message that whatever you like stick to it and whatever life throws your way you will always be able to get through it. In the story the speaker says, “My strange story begins inside a story” ( 8). This shows that the character is imaginative by telling you that she always thought she was a character inside a story. Also, the text “convincing herself... everything will be okay”(156), illustrates how the character is depressed because, Mysti’s dad is in the hospital from a terrifying fall, and her mom has a awful phobia of going outside.…

When we think we can't push anymore, we can push a little harder. When we think we're done, we're not. Our society has grown up under the impression that we aren't good enough, we're not strong enough, or we're not fast enough. So ever since I've heard that, I have pushed harder than I thought was possible, pushed past the limit. However at the same time it also personally impacts me because in the concentration camps they had to persevere, a lot. And I can relate a lot to perseverance because I have grown up swimming and the hard practices take a lot of perseverance. “Night” by Elie Wiesel teaches us all to persevere through the hard times and push ourselves past the limit. This is why I chose this…

An extremely moving novel about a Holocaust survivor's struggle to remember both the heroic and the shameful events of his past, and about his American-born son's need to assimilate his father's life into his own. “Keep fighting. In this kind of battle, it's essential. You're your own best ally. Keep telling yourself that memory possesses its own mysterious powers, which are stronger than imagination”( Wiesel 143).
