Hope was born and raised in Richland, Washington. Her dad was her very first soccer coach, but as she got older, her father began to move out of her life. When Hope was around 9 years old, her father (Jeffrey Solo) stole 1,800 dollars from Hopes grandparents. Jeffery’s actions caused him to move out of Hopes life. As Hope got older, her relations with her mother and stepfather had gotten worse. In High School, her step dad kicked her out of her own house because their disagreements became to much of a problem. After moving back in with her parents, they threatened to take soccer out of her life because they couldn’t afford it. Through a lot of hard work and support from Solos entire town, she gained enough money to continue soccer throughout the rest of her high school career. After knowing Solos story, many girls are inspired knowing that if you really want something and you work for it, you can do anything you imagine.
Hope Solos work is something that shouldn’t be look over. Shaun Phillips and Hope Solo recently decided to give back to there communities as part of the popchip “game changers” program. Solo said nothing make her happier than to give back to the place that started her career. Hope Solo also spends a lot of her free time at boys and girls clubs. She even donated 5,000 dollars to her local Boys and Girls club. Overall, Solo provides as an inspirational motivator to many girls and boys who wish to play soccer at a professional
