Ruiz, his mother, in regards to Horacio’s attendance and behavioral issues. While talking with Mrs.Ruiz I came across some issues the family was experiencing in the home, one prominent issue being their access to a sufficient amount of food to feed the whole family. Mrs.Ruiz told me that there would be times where she could not eat to ensure her children were not hungry. This could be a stressor for Horacio, preventing him from feeling the need to be at school or even show up on time since he feels responsible for helping provide for his family. The best way to begin sharing evaluation results would be to set up a meeting with Horacio, his mother, and myself in either my office or in the family home. Meeting allows us a chance where we can sit together and further discuss their perspective on their progress in achieving the goals and objectives that we initially agreed upon in the contract/service agreement. Once I am able to get their full understanding of where they feel like they are in meeting their goals/objectives, I can show Horacio and Mrs.Ruiz the information/data that I have gathered over the time we have worked together. This would involve me presenting the charts illustrated above to show Horacio and Mrs.Ruiz that improvement was made on both sides to where Horacio’s truancy issue has become less of a problem with some added benefits; not to mention how the Ruiz family’s food needs were met after some much needed intervention that exhibited some inconsistency initially in receiving the sufficient amount of food to sustain the family system which was adjusted over time after working closely with the food distribution program. In the process of sharing evaluation results as Horacio’s school social worker, it is important that I do my best to ensure engagement throughout the evaluation process.
