Horacio And Mrs. Ruiz Case Summary
Case Analysis #4 In the process of ending the planning and intervention stages, it is time for some evaluation. For the past few months Horacio has been working on improving his attendance while Mrs. Ruiz mentioned the family's food needs are insufficiently being met so the connection with a local food pantry has been provided to help resolve the issue. Since some time has elapsed, now would be the best time to evaluate Horacio and Mrs.Ruiz's progress in achieving their goals and analyze if the intervention plan is helping Horacio and Mrs.Ruiz demonstrate growth in place of regression. Grasping an idea for where Horacio and Mrs.Ruiz are after some time in intervention has to be measured utilizing a method(s) of evaluation that can be presented …show more content…
Ruiz, his mother, in regards to Horacio’s attendance and behavioral issues. While talking with Mrs.Ruiz I came across some issues the family was experiencing in the home, one prominent issue being their access to a sufficient amount of food to feed the whole family. Mrs.Ruiz told me that there would be times where she could not eat to ensure her children were not hungry. This could be a stressor for Horacio, preventing him from feeling the need to be at school or even show up on time since he feels responsible for helping provide for his family. Since the family’s food needs are not being tended to properly, I had some time to research local/community food pantry or food distributions, this resource would provide Mrs.Ruiz with some financial relief in terms of not having to struggle to afford groceries. Once I was able to connect with a food distribution program that was most accessible to the Ruiz family, I worked with Mrs. Ruiz and Horacio on filling out the application and getting them into a food distribution program. After two to four weeks of receiving services to fulfill the family’s food needs, I checked in to see how Mrs. Ruiz was adjusting to the receiving resources. I could tell that Mrs.Ruiz was doing well and the family home was well-stocked with food, Mrs.Ruiz told me that she is pleased with the food services that the family is receiving and has no complaints. I would continue checking-in biweekly or …show more content…
The best way to begin sharing evaluation results would be to set up a meeting with Horacio, his mother, and myself in either my office or in the family home. Meeting allows us a chance where we can sit together and further discuss their perspective on their progress in achieving the goals and objectives that we initially agreed upon in the contract/service agreement. Once I am able to get their full understanding of where they feel like they are in meeting their goals/objectives, I can show Horacio and Mrs.Ruiz the information/data that I have gathered over the time we have worked together. This would involve me presenting the charts illustrated above to show Horacio and Mrs.Ruiz that improvement was made on both sides to where Horacio’s truancy issue has become less of a problem with some added benefits; not to mention how the Ruiz family’s food needs were met after some much needed intervention that exhibited some inconsistency initially in receiving the sufficient amount of food to sustain the family system which was adjusted over time after working closely with the food distribution program. In the process of sharing evaluation results as Horacio’s school social worker, it is important that I do my best to ensure engagement throughout the evaluation process. To start, it would be important to
