Hormonal birth control is thought to be a safe, reliable and responsible contraceptive method. While their reliability is high, safety is of concern, and blind decision making is less than responsible. It should be mandatory for any female considering hormonal contraceptives to be educated and aware of the body alterations and dangers before being prescribed. Based on normality, many women are failing to ask questions regarding their own health, and are therefore making the uneducated decision to get on hormonal birth control, when they may have chosen otherwise if being properly informed. Hormonal contraceptives are easily accessible for any female through a simple doctor’s appointment, with a short, if any, discussion on how to body is really effected. Women, especially young females are trusting of health professionals to inform them completely on the possible effects and tolls of any healthcare product.
