This report is intended to provide a concept design narrative and an outline of the methodology behind the design of Information and Communication Technology, Nurse Call, and Audio Visual System for the NBK – Oncology Hospital. The report will outline Data Communications, Telephony, Audio Visual (AV) systems and server room design basis proposed for the project.
The Telecommunication systems shall be based on converged Structured Cabling system. The IP telephony and Physical security systems shall be designed to communicate over the same network Infrastructure and utilizing wherever possible Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) technology. 6.2. List of Abbreviations
ICT Information and Communication Technology
TR Telecommunication Room
TE Telecommication Equipment
EF Entrance facility
DMS Digital Media Signage
AV Audio Visual
CCTV Closed Circuit Television System
QoS Quality of Service

6.3. Design Criteria * The designed network will be a fully converged IP network * Network will support 100/1000 Base-T connectivity to the end user * Structured cabling System shall be based on CAT6a Horizontal cabling * Structured Cabling System shall be unified and integrated for Data, Internet, Wireless, Telephony, CCTV, Time & Attendance, Nurse Call, Queuing Management system and Digital Media Signage systems. * SSH shall consider a centralised ICT Server room. * ICT Server room shall host servers and applications such as Database, Telephony, voice gateways, network switches and CCTV video recording storage. * Wherever applicable, design shall consider supplying power for equipment using POE (Power over Ethernet) technology (e.g. IP Telephony, CCTV cameras and Wireless Access points). * Provisions for MOC Fiber cable intake shall be considered, as per MOC feedback, from the nearest MOC man-hole located from the nearest service area. 6.4.

The next steps ethnet will be taking will be to increases speed and security. An organization using medical equipment or financial information has to consider what security protocols and policies it would use. Using Category 6 twisted pair cabling. These cables are hardier versions of Cat5E and are covered in a shielding that prevents them from being compromised by electrical wiring or magnetic fields. Once the speeds of Ethernet have been completely maxed out, the next upgrade will have to the security features they provide.…

Wired networking connections provide the foundation of the Local Area Network. Incoming connections, Data Center interconnections, IT closet facilities, and stationary computing devices have all traditionally been connected to the network via a series of cables. The primary benefit to a wired connection is that the wire provides a standard level of service (performance, security, reliability) which can be relied upon in all situations. Typically, wired connections (correctly installed) have an extremely low failure rate and provide a standard of service which helps provide a very low cost for support per connection. Once…
