The Eagles formed in 1971 when Don Henley and Glenn Frey decided to form a band and brought on musicians Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner. They were signed to Asylum Records in September 1971. In 1974, guitarist Don Felder joined the band. A year later, Bernie Leadon left the band and was replaced by Joe Walsh. Joe Walsh plays keyboard, Don Felder plays the mandolin, Don Henley plays guitar, Glenn Frey plays guitar, and Randy Meisner plays guitar. All of the members of the band were singers, and there was no lead vocalist. “Hotel California” is found on the album Hotel California,which was released on December 8, 1976. The album contains a total of eleven songs and is 43 minutes and 28 seconds. It was the eagles fifth studio album. It sold
more than 16 million copies in the US, and more than 32 million copies worldwide. It was the band’s first album with Joe Walsh and their last album with Randy Meisner. It ranked number 37 on the Rolling Stone’s list, “The 500 Greatest Albums of all Time. The song “Hotel California” has a slow tempo, and is six and a half minutes long. The focus of this song is the lyrics, except for the last two minutes, which are purely instrumental, with the guitar as the most prominent instrument. Overall, I think that this song is a great song because of its intriguing lyrics and its melodic sound, and I would recommend it to anyone.
