CHAPTER III

METHODOLOGY

Research Design

The project used an application tester with a survey to obtain data on using the conversion application. The project also indentified user’s time management of finding the installer of higher or lower versions of MS Word and MS PPT.

Population of the Study

People from Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba were selected as samples of the project. The people were selected based on the criteria of having a higher version of MS Word and MS PPT file that needs to be opened in a lower version of MS Word and MS PPT application. This criterion will make the results valid since it shows enhancement of the file.

Sampling Design

Non-probability sampling technique is used in this research, under the purposive method since it is a client-based. Examination of the application under the stratified sampling in sampling technique is also used.

Data Collection

There are many ways on how to collect data, besides being useful in many areas, each also has its own benefits. Interview guide or Personal interview is an example of it. The advantages of personal interview are: it can observe body language; can probe for clarification; effective for semi/illiterate; and it can have a high response rate. Most interviewers are using computer instead of papers, because it is easier for them to store the data. Other example is web questionnaires. Web questionnaires are becoming viral nowadays. Less time consuming and less effort are expected on this since it is a web-based.

Respondents

Respondents are the faculty and students from Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba, Bucal, Calamba City Laguna.

Materials and Methods

Pretested application and survey were used in gathering information from the respondents.

Software Methodology

This cycle imposes the development of the conversion application. The actions will start after it has been downloaded.

The choice of data collection is important in any type of research study since it determines the accuracy of the results based off the study's goals. The choice of using telephone interviews could have been as result of the pressed time that a researcher has, or the lack of funds to do it at a greater level of efficiency. However, there exist advantages of using this mode in the collection of data. To start with, telephone interviews are basically cheaper to conduct than personal interviews. If the number of prospects are many and sparsely spread out, then the researcher would find that telephone interviews saves them time, which translates into costs. In addition, telephone interviews are best when faced with tight time constraints. From the convenience of any location with a signal, a researcher is able to contact the prospects easily. In terms of control and management, telephone interviews are quite easy to administer as the researcher is able to lead the way into getting information and…
