Production
From AssemblyLine to Its Own Design and Technology
The Turkish household appliances sector started production as an assembly industry in the 1950s. The first products were manufactured in 1955, and the first Turkishmade refrigerator, named ARÇELİK, was on the market in 1960. The Turkish household appliances industry has achieved tremendous growth since then. This sector, which started out with companies working under licensing agreements and then passing over to knowhow usage, has today carved out its own niche in world markets with its own design and technology. Now the household appliances industry is a wellestablished and dynamic sector of Turkey.

Since the 1950s, except during the crisis periods, sector production had continually increased. In fact, the increase in population and living standards has resulted in the need to increase production. Compared with 2008, overall production remains almost unchanged in 2009.
