How Abiotic Factors Affect The Amazon Rainforest
An ecosystem is a complete community of living organisms and the only nonliving materials of their sorroundings . The Amazon Rainforest is found in South America, spanning across Brazil and Bolivia. It covers much of the northwestern Brasil and it is the largest tropical rainforest in the world. It’s crisscrossed with thousands of rivers. The Amazon represents over half of the planet's remaining rainforests. It covering over five and a half a million square kilometres (1.4 billion acres. An abiotic factor is any of a number of the non-living components of a habitat. The abiotic factors of the amazon rain forest biome are the amount of water , sunlight , climate , weather and precipitation. These factors affect the trees and animals that live there. They are very important because without the right amount of water and sunlight the trees in the rainforest would not be able to grow and it will die. A biotic factor is any living component that affects another organism. The tropical rainforest is the perfect environment for more then 15 million types of plants and animals. These factors affect the rainforest because if there are no biotic components in the forest then the foresnt will die. A limiting factor is an environmental factor that causes a population to decrease. A density-dependent factor …show more content…

Biotic factors are all the living factors in an environment (Plants). While abiotic factors are all non-living factors in an environment. The three types of interactions that occur are biotic-biotic (Betta Fish eating Hornwort, or Fly eating leaves), biotic-Abiotic (Plants-Sunlight, or Betta Fish- Fish Food), and abiotic-abiotic (water eroding rocks, or sunlight heating the soil). The biotic factors I control are what seeds i plant, and the type of fish i buy. The abiotic factors i control are the amount of food the fish gets, how much water i give the plants, and how much sunlight the plants get.…

It is nearly 6 million square kilometers in size and houses the widest variety of plant and animal life than any other place on the planet. It also is home to the second largest river on Earth, the Amazon River. The jungle is mostly in Brazil, but it also spreads to eight neighboring countries in South America; Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and French Guyana. (Webmaster, “Amazon Jungle facts and history in brief”) There are believed to be around 6,000 different species of trees just in the Brazilian region of the Amazon. The Amazon basin in South America, vegetated by tropical rainforest, lies within the equatorial climate zone and covers an area of some 8,235,430 km 2 mainly in Brazil. The Amazon River flows through the basin from its source high in the Andes towards its mouth in the Atlantic Ocean, and is the largest single source of freshwater runoff on Earth, representing 15-20% of global river discharge. At present the amazon rainforest acts as a carbon sink. It absorbs around 35% of the world’s annual carbon dioxide emissions and produces more than 20% of the world’s oxygen. It contains the greatest biodiversity on Earth, providing a habitat for more than half the worlds estimated 10 million species of plants animals and insects.…

The equatorial climate has little variation resulting in a hot wet climate all year round, the Amazon rainforest in Brazil has a mean monthly temperature of around 28°C, ranging between 25°C and 27°C. The Amazon rainfall averages 2677mm per annum. Most precipitation occurs during the day giving the Amazon its hot and wet climate. Primary productivity in the Amazon rainforest is very high, and is the most biologically diverse region in the world, it has nearly 200 species of mammals, more then 500 species of bird, more than 300 species of fish and 180 tree species. Competition being exceeding high ensures that very few species dominate. The rainforest has developed over a long period of time, which has encouraged complex food webs do develop. The constant warm temperatures allow for reproduction throughout the year, this allows for natural selection and evolution to take place at a rapid rate, showing how the Amazon rainforest is a natural response to the climate.…

A tropical rainforest is an ecosystem that occurs roughly within 28 degrees north or south of the equator (equatorial zone between the Tropic of Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn). They are characterised by their humidity (average of 88% in the rainy season and 77% in the dry season), hot temperature (average 27.9 °C during the dry season and 25.8 °C during the rainy season) but more importantly their extremely high rainfall (torrential rainfall - between 1,500 mm and 3,000 mm annually). Tropical rainforests contain the most diverse range and highest volume of plant and animal life found anywhere on the Earth, however, they are amongst the most threatened ecosystem globally due to the large scale fragmentation due to human activity and expansion – 16% of the Earth’s surface was once covered by tropical rainforest, yet the figure has significantly dropped to approximately 6% with no optimism of it increasing again. In this essay I will focus on the Amazon Rainforest, it is 2 times the size of India harbouring 10% of the world’s known species and is home to 350 ethnic groups.…

The water cycle is nature’s way of showing how water moves around. The water cycle is a continuous cycle where water evaporates, travels into the air and becomes part of a cloud, falls down to earth as precipitation, and then evaporates again. This never ending cycle is everywhere. One of the places that it occurs in is the Amazon Rainforest. The Amazon Rainforest is a unique habitat filled with wildlife. With its tropical weather, the Amazon has an abundance amount of rain per year. In addition to that, this forest has a vast variety of animals and plants. All of these add to the water vapor going into the air. WIth all these vast variety of animals and plants, there is probably a lot of evaporation going on.…

The logging companies choose to cut down trees in the Amazon Rainforest because hardwoods are very hard to find and most are in the Amazon Rainforest. Also, there’s so much woods that they need from the forest in order to create the furnitures. Clearing the trees could also help provide clear areas for new housing and villages. Cutting down trees can benefit the world because there is access to other natural resources within the forest. The Amazonian Rainforest is home to hundreds of indigenous plants, and animals, it is the largest terrestrial source of oxygen on earth and many amazonian products are used to create daily commodities each of which is sufficient reason to sustainably develop the Amazon. According to the fourth document “There are over 24 edible foods found in the Amazon Rainforest”. This means that there is an open food source in the Amazon which can be exploited in order to help feed the surrounding countries and make a profit. This shows the need to sustainably develop the Amazon Rainforest because if nothing is done and the area is just felled then those resources would have been wasted, but if the area is just protected then there will be a lost opportunity to help the local Amazonian communities gain income.…
