Andrew Jackson was the president who signed the Indian Removal Act. This act is more commonly know as the Trail of Tears, which was ruled unconstitutional by the supreme court at the time. However, he ignored the order and sent his army to forcefully remove
Indians west of the Mississippi. Many natives died due to the horrible conditions they were forced into, and disease was rampant. This a truly monstrous act, unforgivable, and the man who did it was present.
He was also irresponsible and did not follow any rules that were set for him, 0if the got in the way. He fired his entire cabinet, that he elected, over them being mean to Peggy Eaton, because he thought the woman too weak to handle it. Then even more unprecedented, the man didn’t hire a new cabinet and instead settled for what is called now a Kitchen Cabinet. It was an informal group of people, which Andrew Jackson meet in the kitchens. They were not approved by the Senate which is what the constitution states.
However, some believe he was a good man because he stopped nullification crisis. But would you really believe this more important than the lives of the Native Americans that died because of him? The families that were ripped apart because of him? The people that think he is a hero truly bring the strife he caused as president.
In all, he should be known as a stain in American history because of his cruelty to the native Americans, him being unpresidential, and the thousands who died because of him. How could he not be a stain on American history?
