The social web is, in simple terms, a vehicle for technology driven communication. Shaun Connolly, a VP Corporate Strategy for Hortonworks, defines Social Web as, “People interlinked and interacting with engaging content in a conversational and participatory manner via the Internet.” Today companies, organizations, political and social movements know that they must be active members of the Social Web in order to survive and thrive. The use of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google and YouTube is a very significant component of an overall social media marketing mix in order to reach their objectives.
