How Can Anne Frank Be So Nice
Anne Frank Essay:
How can Anne be so nice? She also believed in the following words: “ in spite of everything, I still believe people are really good at heart.” I agree with Annes quote. Because she was nice when she gave everyone presents but sometimes people would disagree. Mr Van Daan yelled at his wife because he was selling Mrs Van Daan’s fur coat.
I think people are good in the heart because people will like Anne Frank she was nice when she gave people presents on pg 72 Mr Frack says this is all Anne’s idea because she was being nice she gave Mrs Van Daan hair shampoo. She gave Margot a crossword puzzle book and she gave Duzzel ear plugs then she gave Mr Frank a scarf and then she gave Peter a razer then she gave Mr Van Daan a cigarettes.

    | Anne says this in frustration after Mrs. Van Daan yells at her for spilling milk on her coat. This expresses another Anne because it suggests that Anne sees herself changing, that she envisions a different self. I feel that Anne says this because to her, everybody in the Annex shows more favoritism to Margot then her, especially her mother. On the outside it seems Anne can’t always control her temper, as she strives to be more like Margot, who is patient and calm. On the inside, she is jealous of Margot, wanting to have more of an attitude like hers, and convey a better personality to others, contrary to what she’s done. Also Anne is younger, so it is understandable that she'd look up to an older sibling. I can relate to this because many times in our family, I feel as if my parents favor my older sibling over me. I have the same feelings as expressed in this quote, as it is hard to be more mature than somebody older. This quotation suggests change in Anne, as she herself wants to change, and be more socially civil rather than her normal self.     Anne writes about the changes she begins seeing in herself. On Saturday, March 25, 1944, Anne wrote “You never realize how much you have changed until after it’s happened. I have changed quite drastically, everything about me is different: my opinions, ideas, critical outlook. Inwardly, outwardly, nothing is the same. And, I might safely add, since It is true, I have changed for the better” (234). Here, Anne indicates that change can be a good thing. Often people see change as a negative, but Anne deals with it in a positive manner. Although everything going on around her seems to be going downhill, Anne finds the courage to change herself for the better. Anne Frank was always accountable for herself and her actions. On Saturday, July 15, 1944, Anne said “I have a great deal of self-knowledge. In everything I do, I can watch myself as if I were a stranger. I can stand across from the everyday Anne and, without being biased or making excuses, watch what she is doing, both the good and the bad. This self-awareness never leaves me, and every time I open my mouth, I think ‘you should have said that differently’ or ‘that is fine the way it is’ (325). Anne Frank never made excuses or blamed other people for her problems or actions. She took responsibility for her faults and made a vow to change them.     Frank's tendency to rank her daughters diminishes by her effort to support Anne and her needs. Furthermore, when Mrs. Van Daan displeasingly classifies Anne's approach towards Peter as untraditional, Mrs. Frank disagrees with her statement by kindly claiming, "You know how young people like to feel that they have secrets. Peter's room is the only place where they can talk" (Goodrich 2.2). From this, it is clear that Mrs. Frank attempts to rationalize Anne's actions in order for Mrs. Van Daan to realize the importance of teenagers being able to express their feelings amongst themselves. Therefore, Mrs. Frank's response demonstrates that she approves of Anne's doings as long as it fills her daughter with content; nevertheless, Mrs. Frank would have thought of Anne's private discussions with Peter as irregular and immature a while ago. Similarly, when Mrs. Frank discovers Mr. Van Daan stealing a portion of the fugitives' food in the middle of the night, she bitterly cries, "I see the children getting thinner and thinner... And you come in the night and steal food that should go to them" (Goodrich 2.3). It is conspicuous that Mrs. Frank disrespects Mr. Van Daan's theft of food out of the concern that her daughters and Peter do not receive the right amount of nutrition they need for their age. This is important because it proves that regardless of the numerous ways Anne frustrates her mother, it does not cause Mrs. Frank to believe that Margot, the daughter who has a strong bond with her mother, needs the nourishment more than Anne does. Finally, the legendary writer's mother's equal protection over the youthful runaways and her approval of her daughter having secret conversations with the only young male in the Secret Annex justifies that her favoritism over one child no longer…
