The war on drugs has been an ongoing battle for the past 40-50 years. Despite adding legislative measures to help prevent the use, manufacture, and distribution of these illicit substances, it continues to burden the government and affect so many lives of the people. Notwithstanding the dangerous effects of what these drugs may do to one’s body, still more people are enticed to try them which eventually leads them to drug addiction.
Prescription drug abuse is a global issue since people from all walks of life are affected – either legitimate users of prescribed medications or those individuals who seek to experience the different level of euphoria that they can feel by using these prescription drugs.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Association (SAMHSA) annual conducts surveys on drug use and health. It provides valuable information about the trends of drug use as well as the prevalence of drug use among teens and adults.
