How many times have you quit because you thought something was too hard? Well, Abraham Lincoln never quit. Although, Abraham struggled with his home life. But soon enough he was America’s 16th president. Abraham Lincoln will be remembered by his honestness, abolishing slavery, stopping seven states from seceding and the Gettysburg Address. Abraham didn’t have an easy childhood. He was born February 12,1809 in Hodgenville, Kentucky. He had a brother named Thomas Jr. He was born around 1810 and died a few days later. His sister Sarah, married Aaron Grigsby when she was 19. One year later she died while giving birth to a child. A couple years after his mom’s death, his dad married Sarah Bush and she brightened the Lincoln household within minutes. Their family lived on a farm so Lincoln spent a lot of time out doing labor on the farm with his dad. Abraham learned to read, write, and do arithmetic. He went to school when the weather was warm in a one room school house. Dreaming of becoming the president is a big dream. You wouldn’t think it’s something that a laborer would not dream of… Just because you face failure once, doesn’t mean you just give up. Abraham Lincoln had some big career accomplishments. First of all, he stopped seven states from seceding. Seceding means to break away from a country. On May 26, 1865 the Civil War ended. He also became the 16th president of the United States.
