One of the most harmful effects that European conquest caused on the world was the practice of Slavery, and it took place in Africa. First, European explored African and conquered them, then they took some of African population into other countries for work labor because they stand the weather and bare the hardworking while Europeans could not . Olaudah Equiano said in his document " When I looked round the ship too and saw a large furnace or cooper boiling, and a multitude of black of every description chained together, every sorrow" (Olaudah Equiano, The interesting Narrative of the life of Olaudah Equiano, P. 701). Based on this document, slave's journey to other countries were awfully bad. For example, the ship that they were traveled…
The European’s saw the Africans as something so vile and so putrid that they decided to punish them. After capturing some of these Africans and enslaving them, the Europeans sent them over to the Americas and forced them to complete manual labor. On the way to the Americas, the Africans often died in the process of trying to become immune to European diseases; the Europeans would force these diseases onto them in order to make the rest of the population immune. On the way to and in America, the slaves were harshly beaten and were wrongly treated for the reason that they looked differently than the Europeans did. Once in America, the slaves were able to farm new types of crops, causing a greater demand for these foods and resources from Europe.…
Between 1450 and 1850 12 million slaves were transported to the new world from Africa. However only 10.7 million of them survived the dreaded passage to the new world. In the Atlantic world many things happened that changed the world: the discovery of the new world, new technology, and most importantly the causes and effects of slavery. Slavery impacted the world in many ways and changed the world how it is today.…
It was easy for the English enslave the Africans. They were helpless; the English tore them from their land and culture and they were no match for the English’s guns and ships. Africans were captured and sent to the coast where they were kept in cages until they were picked and sold. Then they were packed aboard the slave ships in spaces that were no bigger than coffins. The combination of desperation from the Jamestown settlers, difficulty of using whites and Indians as servants, the availability of Africans and their helplessness made them the ideal candidates for enslavement. They were the solution to the settler’s problems.…
In Europe, slavery initially began with indentured servants, people who owed debts to people, but where too poor to pay them, so they paid with labor until they were cleared of their debts. Initially, when the Europeans began to colonize the Americas, indentured servants were the source of the majority of the labor. Europeans knew that the conditions that slaved faced were deplorable, so deplorable in fact that they would not enslave other Europeans. Europeans all agreed that those from overseas were fair game, but not their brethren from neighboring countries," Europeans were united, however, in their unwillingness to send fellow Europeans as slaves on the same…
The Atlantic slave trade is considered to be the largest and most revolting forced migration of human beings to ever be recorded. The migrations, which totaled approximately twelve to fifteen million Africans, sailed across the Atlantic to work in fields, mines, and many other places between the sixteenth to nineteenth centuries. Slavery around this time was not uncommon, therefore not looked down upon by most societies. This took away the moral disadvantage of slavery, and looked towards the potential opportunities. The people in Europe could rarely receive a profit from European-grown crops.…
Africans became enslaved and were viewed as an inferior race who lacked intellect and therefore incapable of making decisions for themselves. The shift also occurred because of economic reasons; it was cheaper to purchase an African off-sea that was to offer a life-time of servitude…
In the sixteenth and seventieth century, Europeans began the plantation agriculture in the New World. They grew sugar, tobacco, rice, cotton. As the New world land became more available and convenient, civilized and fertilized for Europeans, the need of labor augmented. The west and West central African states, who were already involved in slave trading, supplied Europeans with African slaves across the Atlantic Ocean. Slaves were inexpensive to Europeans standard, they tend to live longer compared to European laborers who were vulnerable to diseases. Slavery is very much different from labor. Therefore, Africans became the major source of New World plantation labor. Nonetheless, they were not labor, but it was slavery. Slavery…
Often times, contracted laws were broken between indentured servants and owners, causing the wealthy white men more hassle in the long run. Word that Portugal began trading African war prisoners from either the African region or Africans residing in the Caribbean area spread, sparking the wealthy white men’s interest. Shortly after, indentured servants were replaced with what white Europeans thought of as a cheaper investment. Europeans residing in North America thought of these Africans as savages who were incapable of understanding the concept of being human, which at first made for the perfect relationship between owner and slave. These slaves would have families or make families, handing down their slavery by generation.…

Frederick Douglass was a African-American slave, and as many slaves didn’t achieve he escaped from slavery. He made progress and became a free man. Freedom for African-American individuals was hard to get in the south. Many slave owners thought that it was better for slaves to be slaves then for them to be a free person in the real world. Slavery was a real big thing and the white man who didn’t defend slavery were know as traders and they may have been injured by others that believed in slavery. There are many ways on how slavery affected slaves, and how it affected the slaveholders, and finally how slavery brought light on all of this in total. It was real hard for slaves and Douglass had…
