How Did Charles Babbbage Contribute To Math
Many mathematicians have become famous for their mathematical contributions. However, not all mathematicians have contributed in the same way. Charles Babbage's contributions to the world of math are unique in its own way. His contributions are unique because his work helped develop the evolution of computers as well as math. Babbage was not only a mathematician, but also an inventor who designed many machines for the advancement of mathematics.
Charles Babbage was born on December 26th 1791, as the son of Benjamin and Elizabeth Babbage. Charles was born in London where his father was a wealthy banker. The earliest education Charles received was at his house mainly because he spent a lot of his childhood in chronic illness. His teacher Stephen Freeman was an amateur astronomer and had taught Charles for three years. Then Charles went to become a student at a school near Cambridge University for two years. This was likely because he was preparing to enter the University soon. However, the school did not appeal to Charles well and he went back to live with his parents in Devon. Just because Charles was not at university did not mean he did not study. He studied mathematics with great devotion and became fond of algebra.
During 1808 the Babbage family had moved to a new neighborhood. This neighborhood is where Charles Babbage would meet many of his lifelong friends and even his wife, Georgiana Whitmore. The marriage was not welcomed by Benjamin Babbage, Charles father. Ben did not have a problem with Georgiana, the issue was that Charles was not able to financially support himself as he was still living on an allowance.
