Clara Barton and her assistants helped locate over 22,000 missing men. She also provided care to soldiers of the 54th Massachusetts Regiment. Later, she moved to Europe where she founded the movement for the Red Cross which was helping aid those fighting the Franco-German war. Clara helped connect the Red Cross to America where on May 21, 1881, the Red Cross was founded. She helped those caught in the Ohio River flood and Jamestown flood by delivering supplies. She also gave supplies to those who were caught in a tornado in Illinois. She also aided those in the yellow fever epidemic. Clara eventually was known to be widespread associating with President Lincoln, Susan B. Anthony, Fredrick Douglas, and president Rutherford B. Hayes. She also impacted the view of women being too weak to help in battle. Clara fought for equal rights for women and set a huge example by doing her best to help despite the standards of society.
