When Copernicus was making his new discoveries he made a report of his theory. The text cites, “By 1514 Copernicus wrote a short report, called the Little Commentary, that explained his heliocentric theory. In this report, he confidently claimed that the Earth both revolved on its axis and orbited around the Sun. For Copernicus, putting the Sun in the center of the Universe solved many of the problems he found with Ptolemy’s model” (Text # 4). By others changing their minds they receive evidence that shapes their mind to make new conclusions. Copernicus changed his mind due to the evidence he found by using his telescope, well a medal tube. This small report was then showed to his friends but many many years later it was published. He did not publish it due to being mocked by the church because the stuck with Ptolemys Theory. Then after this many years later Galileo had this information and he was stuck. The text cites, “I have written many direct and indirect arguments for the Copernican view. But until now I have not dared to publish them, alarmed by the fate of Copernicus himself, our master. He has won for himself undying fame in the eyes of a few, but he has been mocked and hooted at by an infinite multitude… I would dare to come forward publicly with my ideas if there were more people of your way of thinking” (Text #5). This shows two things. One, that Galileo used the information from Copernicus to question it and draw wonderful new concepts. Secondly, the reason why he did not publish the report. During that time Copernicus’ ideas were not accepted by the church. So Galileo took the evidence of being mocked by others and not publish Copernicus nor his theory, thoughts, and
