He joined the political world because he had married Mirta Diaz-Balart, her family had connections with Fulgencio Batista the man that Castro overthrew. But before all the wealth and fame, his family was poor. Castro was lucky enough to be born into a stable family, but his parents were apart of the poverty population. Some may say it could be the reason he wanted to give his people the benefit of having free education and health care, so that no one would have to go through what his parents went through(Augustin). Constant debates were going on, whether Castro is a good leader or just going to ruin the country. They all agree that some of Castro’s ideas were crazy, but if that is what needed to happen in order to receive benefits, then they will do whatever it takes. In some ways it is shown that Castro was doing good for Cuba, as the author of Cuban Human Rights and the Hypocrisy of the Media wrote,"Under his rule, too, Cuban public health and literacy indicators were significantly better than those of many other Latin American states…”(Augustin). Fidel always had his people in mind, which is a quality one would want in a leader. Both sides knew that what Castro had done to Cuba will always remain a question towards human rights. His actions were what made Cuba more aware of what one is entitled to in the human rights
