How Did Genghis Khan Have A Negative Effect On Today's Society
Although Kim Jong II, Genghis Khan, and Ivan IV are fearless, ruthless leaders, they will always be remembered as great leaders. They formed most of today’s Europe, Asia and most of Korea. Though they were ruthless and fearless, they all had a huge impact on today’s society and both positive and negative affects.
In 1162 near the border between modern Mongolia and Siberia, there is a soon to be one of the most recognized leaders of China and Asia, Genghis Khan. Temujin aka Genghis Khan established the largest land empire in history. Genghis Khan was born with a blood clot in his right hand or so that's what they say. In 1178 Temujin married a woman named Borte, Temujin and Borte have 4 sons named Ogedei Khan, Jochi Khan, Tolui, and Chagatai Khan and an unknown number of daughters (History.com). He ordered his men to not loot until they knew for sure that it was a complete victory and that it was safe to do so. Temujin also was an animist and he also had followers, including Christians, Muslims and Buddhists. By 1205 he had vanquished all his rivals, including his former best friend Jamukha (History.com). Temujin had united all the steppe tribes and ruled at least a million people. He also forbade the selling and kidnapping of women, banned the enslavement of any Mongol and made livestock theft punishable by death. His first campaign outside Mongolia was against the Xi Xia kingdom of northwestern China. After many raids the Mongols launched a major initiative in 1209 that brought them to the doorstep of Yinchuan, the Xi Xia capital (History.com). His army consisted almost entirely of cavalrymen, who were good at horseback riding and deadly with bow and arrows. When Temujin returned to Mongolia in 1225, he controlled territory from the Sea of Japan to the Caspian Sea. Genghis Khan conquered more than twice as much land as any other person in history, bringing western and

In my opinion, having a technological advantage does not always mean you will win. Some didn 't have any technological benefits but they still won, and some had many technological advantages but they lost. In Jack Weatherford 's “Genghis Khan and the Making of the Modern World”, Genghis Khan 's conquest were made possible by his brilliant military strategies. He was ingenious at getting ideas from different travelers he met, such as Marco Polo. He also used traditional Mongol military tactics and more “modern” tactics such as guns. The territory Genghis Khan conquered was made possible mostly by his political abilities and partially by some new weapons. He allowed people he conquered all freedom as long as they obeyed his overall authority.…

The Mongols created probably the largest, land empire in world history. At its height, the empire spanned from Eastern Europe to China and into the Near East. That was truly an amazing accomplishment given the obscure origins of the Mongols in the twelfth century on a distant plateau, isolated in the heart of Asia. The military advantages enjoyed by the Mongols over any potential adversaries stemmed from their legendary discipline, extraordinary abilities on horseback, ability to organize and coordinate large military units and, finally, their noted ferocity. By the height of Mongol conquests in the mid-thirteenth century, the Mongols were feared by everyone across Europe and Asia. Please feel free to review my lecture notes (rtf file) on the Mongols. As the Mongol Empire began around the end of the golden age, the Mongols used their merciless and violent soldiers to acquire an area larger than present day United States. Mongol khans had unified fragmented China and brought stability and order to the area. However, the Mongols, particularly under the rule of Genghis Than, had committed various large scale massacres that lowered their reputation. For example, in the 13th century, the Mongols invaded Islamic lands and killed 1.3 million people from the city of Merv and 800,000 from Baghdad. By 1294, the empire was growing weak and the Mongols lost control of Persia by 1330 and China by 1338. By the year 1370, the Mongols had lost the remainder of their empire in Central Asia and the Mongols’ violent and greedy tactic came to an end.…

Prompt 3: Through comparing and contrasting my skills, I’ve come to the conclusion that my greatest one is fighting. Along with my ability to fight came a skill set of determination, competitiveness, and memorization. Although my skill is not academic, it gives me qualities that can help me in the classroom. I’ve developed a strong memory and a passion for success. This skill has honestly helped me better my life. I started boxing when I was 14 years old as an overweight kid who was struggling with self-confidence. Boxing was that safe haven for me allowing me to lose the weight and gain skills that set me apart from others. From there I branched off getting into kickboxing, Muay Thai, Jiu-Jitsu, and wrestling. The mixed martial arts have really become a part of me as a person so I will always be participating in at least one subfield of MMA. Currently I am wrestling for my high school and keeping up with my boxing. The boxing I’m involved in is less likely to get me anywhere compared to wrestling. If I place in the top three at coast this year I will qualify for state and that will greatly aid me in the future. I want to pursue a college degree so I can better my future while also fighting on the side because you never know what can happen. I do love fighting, but jumping straight into only fighting and no schooling is irrational. Therefore college is for me.…
