How Did George Washington Win The President
George Washington wins the election as the first president in 1789, inaugurating the Government. He was seen as “virtuous” and seen as a good choice to “elevate the public good.” Washington believed the government should become the ruler over the president. Congress passed the Judiciary Act of 1789, creating a federal court system. The passing of the Bill of Rights was promised under ratification of the Constitution. However, not everyone was satisfied with the 80 proposed amendments. Alexander Hamilton, secretary of the treasure, was given the task of rebuilding the economy. His plans would create a powerful federal government, while Washington supporting him but Thomas Jefferson, secretary of the state, opposed it. Hamilton’s first problem
