How Did I Quit The Crucible
I quit this court.
I quit this madness.
This town has gone wild and I no longer believe it can be saved.
[Pause, gathers composure]
I have always been a man of God.
I came to Salem to find evil and banish them for my Heavenly Father, I have been to many towns around the world and have rid them of impurities and evil, whether they be cursed spirits, demons or in this case, witches.
[Pause, deep in thought]
The evidence against every man or woman who was convicted and persecuted by the court, due to my order, was so thick and evil that the matter could not be ignored and they had to be charged and sentenced.
Their deaths were essential to rid God’s world of impurities and evil, therefore they don’t bother my conscience.
[Pause, thinking]
However, Salem is different.
As soon as I took my first step in Salem, the thickness of evil and corruption felt as if it

I am certain Lucifer stalked the streets, he silently stalks every town, however he doesn’t always show himself to people, especially not here in Salem.
People in this town are out to gain their own benefits by spreading the suspicion of Lucifer being present in Salem. Due to these greedy people, good Christian men and women have died in the name of God.
What hurts the most though,
[Pause]
is that my own pride and confidence may have started this whole mess and caused all this innocent, Christian blood to be shed in the name of God.
[Pause]
Over the years of ridding this world of evil in the name of God, I had become the best Reverend to vanquish witches, and yet I had been fooled by Abigail, the true witch in Salem. She has taken control of this town, and whoever tries to oppose her are condemned of witch craft.
Perhaps if I hadn’t been so quick to yell witch, the hanging, the murdering, it may never have happened and my heart would be at peace.

In Document C, he is quoted as a secondary source countering the theory that witchcraft was only performed by Indians. He supports his own theory by referring to the growing number of witchcraft cases that are occurring in Christian households. Once warned, the people of Salem walk on egg shells trying to find signs of witchcraft, but also avoiding them as much as possible.…

Witches are known to be very dangerous, evil, and made deals with the devil. They were even killed, tortured and jailed, but nowadays we treat them completely differently. We invite them into our house, give them candy, and strike conversations with them, that is at least on halloween. In a plain meeting house in 1692 a woman stands before her judges. She is accused of tormenting innocent girls with an unseen evil. Standing there, the poor woman is ridiculed in front of her whole town. She is surrounded by people accusing her of witchcraft based only on the hallucinations of attention-hungry schoolgirls. It makes us wonder was there no justice? It did not matter; superstition got the best of them. Eventually these superstitions claimed twenty-five lives, shattered the community, and forever shaped the American social conscience. The combination of fear and superstition in Salem in 1692 caused a devastating witch-hunt, leading us to cry out for some old-fashioned justice. There…

Named after the holy city of Jerusalem, Salem was founded in 1626 by English merchants who took advantage of the natural harbor and the abundant fishing the area provided. Fear of Devil-worship and witchcraft swept through Salem, Massachusetts, like a plague. During the years of 1692-1693, more than 200 people, men, women, and even children, were accused of witchcraft. Words of friends, neighbors, and even complete strangers put many people’s lives in danger; 19 were hung, 1 pressed to death, and 3 including 1 infant died in jail awaiting trial. The accusations, the trials, the executions, and the events leading up to and after the deaths, kept Salem Massachusetts, on its toes in this mass paranoia.…

The Salem Witch Trials of 1692 was a time of panic and bedlam. Men and women of all ages were being “inhabited by the Devil” in turn making them witches. During the 1600s, English immigrants arrived in New England, a number of them being Puritans. The Puritans were Protestant Christians who were unhappy with the way England practiced Christianity so they moved to New England for a fresh start. However, once it was the 17th century, witchcraft became more well known and people became more worried about their well being. There were three causes to this panic: people were afraid of being accused so they accused others, girls who were bored and messing around, and Western Salem Village’s loss of political influence.…

The concern about witches in Salem began when a group of young girls, Betty Parris, Abigail Williams, and Ann Putnam Jr., began to throw their “fits”; hiding under furniture making odd noises, contorting in pain and unnatural bodily movements. Without a doubt the girls had to be examined. When doctors couldn’t find a physical explanation to what had been occurring, they were diagnosed as being bewitched. They later named three women as those who had been hurting them; Tituba, the Parris’ slave, Sarah Good, a poor beggar, and Sarah Osborne, who had a legal altercation with the Putnam…
