How Did Japan Invade Midway Island
An all out war happened between Japan and the US when Japan decided to attack Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, a US naval base on December 7, 1941 it was truly a surprise attack. After Pearl Harbor, Japan continued an aggressive campaign of expansion. In 1942 Japan seized the Philippines, parts of Dutch East Indies, and islands in the Pacific. In June 142, Japan attempted to invade Midway Island, a 3-day battle ensued. It was the first allied victory in the Pacific. The US planned on how to retake territory in the Pacific. In August 1942, allies chose the island of Guadalcanal as a major target. In 1943 Japan was defeated and were forced to retreat, the US successfully took control of the East Indies.In 1944, allied forces pushed toward the Philippines.
