Some of the musicians that Lennon inspired include the famous Elton John, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, Ike and Tina Turner, Raidohead and even Ray Charles. John Lennon has inspired a majority of today’s musicians. Not only did John Lennon inspire many musicians seen today, but, he also had a very successful career with the Beatles, The Beatles sold over two billion albums with a total of one thousand two hundred and seventy-eight weeks of being on the charts, and a total of one hundred and seventy-five weeks being number one on the music charts. The Beatles sold albums in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Germany, France, Japan and many other countries. The Beatles where on a rise and continued to rise up and up in the music industry. Some say that the Beatles where more famous then Jesus Christ. That theory brought up a major dispute and uprising among some people however many people against the saying where told to buy the albums so that they may have public burnings of the albums although it was for their protesting the Beatles, it only helped the numbers of albums sold helping the Beatles become more famous than before the protests. As for Lennon’s solo career he went on to release eight albums. Between 1970 and 1975, within just five years he released six of the eight albums. Lennon tried his luck and after the falling out of the Beatles, John Lennon went out on his own after leaving the Beatles, to pursue a solo career. A strong war activist sought out to use his talents and way with words to do what he thought was the right thing to do. Lennon believed strongly in making a difference in the world for the better and world peace. Lennon once vowed to stay in bed with his loving wife Yoko Ono in protest to the war, trying to get the world to change and accept world peace. Not only did Lennon carry out acts to display his believe but also through his music as seen his albums “Instant Karma”, and “ Imagine” with an addition of a protest single called “ Power to the People” . John Lennon was very honest and blunt in his music and had very little care in what others thought despite some of the negative feedback and even negative attention he received. John Lennon had the courage to go out on his own as a solo artist and though his actions shown through heated interviews on TV and songs protesting the war, he really put his thoughts, beliefs, and feelings into his music and was a very passionate motivation to protest the war.(2)
Outgoing was one of the many words that is used to describe John Lennon. What make’s Lennon outgoing is his character and his actions he carried out. Throughout his time spend with the Beatles as well as his solo career Lennon traveled to many countries and got a view of many different cultures.
