How Did Louis Pasteur Contribute To The Formation Of Tartrate?
Louis Pasteur was studying molecules of tartrate, which are salt molecules that tend to separate from a fermented product. While doing so he created a revolutionary hypothesis that tartrate was comprised of two salt molecules with similar physical and chemical characteristics, that differed in shape and also in their own solution had different light polarization in opposite directions. This told him that the spatial arrangement of these two molecules, that was made up of the same type of bonds and atoms, could differ from one another by their arrangement of atoms. This early discovery in his life was confirmed about 30 years later and was the start of stereochemistry.

The previous mentioned discovery was the reason why Pasteur started researching fermentation in 1854, he figured that asymmetry was a sign of life among molecules of plants and animals. The topic of fermentation was very misunderstood during his time, Pasteur wanted to know the exact science behind fermentation. He asked himself, why did it work, why did it not work and the biggest question or debate was whether fermentation and putrefaction occurred spontaneously or happened some other way.     The technological advancements, in the scientific field, have opened opportunities for scientists to accumulate knowledge and understanding of the cell theory and have thus provided justification to the living organisms that exist. The topic of cells was brought forth and from this moment, in 1674 Leeuwenhoek viewed microscope ' animalcules' and in 1838, Schleiden and Schwann produced the cell theory, stating that all living things are made of cells and cells are the basic unit of organisms. Moreover, the technological introduction of stains were developed and assisted scientists to efficiently see cells and their internal structures. This staining technique, as a result of technology, created a contrast between the transparent material and its background, presenting a clear image of the cell. Therefore, through the technology advancement in staining techniques, the processes of the cells and nuclear division of the cell were visible. Significantly, towards the end of the 19th century, compound light microscopes had been developed to a point where the resolving power of microscopes was diminishing, with difficulty in separating objects. After observing a thin slice of cork, an English man, Robert Hooke, reported to the world that life's smallest structural units were "Little boxes" or "Cells" as he called them.
